College kids like yummy foods….I get it
But this is a PROBLEM!

shelves of processed foods are not good for our brains, our performance in school, cognitive ability, or gut health. Universities and institutions are meant to enrich our abilities to be business professionals and achieve our goals.

But it’s hard when long study hours and mental exhaustion is met with sweet caffeinated drinks to ā€œkeep up goingā€ and snacks that only make us lethargic.

It’s a cycle that the University gets paid to involve us in. Food companies pay money to be placed in college campuses, and work very hard to do so. And there’s nothing wrong with students making their own food choices.

But I am calling for some VARIETY! Those coolers are empty and could have a few rows of healthy options.

There’s are individuals that aren’t as concerned with what they consume, and some that are.

But let US choose and have the ability to make healthier choices without having to go elsewhere to eat while we study.

Do you think this is a problem? What can be done?

You get in what you get out. And every day is an opportunity to add to that, develop new habits, and be intentional.

What steps are you taking?

Intentionality.

There are very few things in this world that you have absolute control over, but one of them is the degree to which you are intentional.

Every decision we make throughout the day compounds, either strengthening our direction or degrading it. SMALL CHOICES have SUCH impact on our brains. A compromise in your morals and goals, no matter how small, is so powerful. And every day we are training our brains to maintain these things or chip away at them.

How you treat others. What you allow to come out of your mouth. How you respond to conflict. Your daily habits. What you allow yourself to get used to. What goes into your body. Where you spend your time.

You're the only one that is in control of the life you're living, and taking responsibility for that is so powerful. Take it seriously. Make certain aspects of your day non-negotiables. Your time and energy is a limited resource. Make sure you are intentional with where and who you let it go to.

LONGEST SWIM TO DATE šŸŠā€ā™€ļø
1,637m on 3/24/23

Friday I went on my first open water swim. This was my first time in my wetsuit, and swimming for distance somewhere other than a pool.

The thing about open water swimming- is that you’re almost swimming blindfolded. You’re stroking the water, but can’t see your arms or what is underneath you whatsoever. The line on the bottom of the pool is gone, and you have to learn to check surroundings every few strokes to keep in the right direction. It can be hard to stay oriented as boats and jet skis create waves that push you in all directions.

It’s scary to not get air when a wave comes mid-stroke! And it’s scary to be blindly paddling when you can’t touch the bottom of the lake for so long.

But I honestly REALLY loved it!

There were moments that I had to mentally calm myself down and keep my stroke consistent despite missed breathing attempts. And times that I felt anxious as to what I was swimming over or the location of boaters around me.

It’s times like these that you learn emotional control.

Freaking out isn’t always an option- and it’s essential to train for hard situations so that you can thrive in discomfort during races.

After about thirty minutes in- I got used to the eb and flow of the water, and ended up swimming my first mile! Huge accomplishment for me as I train for the Olympic distance triathlon. šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

You’re always stronger than your mind is if you learn how to control it :)

I am absolutely STOKED to announce that I am a part of the team!!

I first started following this company in 2019 when I started listening to the on my runs. Nick Bare became a role model for me because of his view on life as a daily opportunity to Go One More.

One more rep, mile, attempt, challenge- whatever that may be. Set a goal, believe you are capable, commit to it, and prove yourself right. šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

The BPN community pushes each other to be better, creates normalcy in seeking difficult things, and surrounds you with support to achieve them.

This team full of THE most motivated and strong people I have ever met, and I can’t wait to try and uphold their standard.

Being a part of this culture and team is SURREAL. And I am so honored (and SUPER excited) to be a part of it!
