I've had many inquires on when we are starting our tournaments back. I have my own personal opinions regarding this 'pandemic'; but many times in business, you have to disregard your personal thoughts. Here are some of the reasons we haven't started back yet.
1. Venues have to open back up and meet the state guidelines.
2. I need to feel comfortable that HOKOPoker is meeting the state guidelines for myself and for the venue.
3. Everyone touches the same cards and chips. Everyone is within inches of each other. There is no social distancing in live poker. Many of the casinos have opened back up, but none of the poker rooms have opened back up yet. There's a reason why.
4. Yes, I know some other companies have started their live games back up. I don't run these games for the money. I don't need this company to pay bills. I only have these games for you guys. Some of you have played with me for 15 years. If only 1-2% of the population can get sick and die from this virus - then that means atleast one of you will get sick and die from playing free poker. Can you accept that? I can not. Will not.
5. I'm waiting to see how the casinos and other REGULATED poker rooms handle this.
6. I'm waiting on more information and actual facts on the virus and what is happening.
99% of the way this virus is transmitted is from touching an infected person/surface and then touching your face. The other 1% is from being exposed in an enclosed environment for longer than 15-30 minutes. (Latest info, unless/until it changes again). Wash your hands frequently. Do not touch your face. I think that's always been good advice. I will update when something changes. Stay safe and well!
