On 12/30 and 12/31 our Varsity Lady Houn Dawg wrestlers headed to Springfield to participate in the 7th Annual Lady Viking Tournament at Parkview High School. The Lady Viking Tournament is a massive tournament consisting of 29 Varsity teams and 9 JV teams from all over the state of Missouri with many of the top girls in the state competing. Two day tournaments are very difficult and our girls stepped up to the challenge in a big way! Competing for the Lady Houn Dawgs were Camryn Storkson (105 lbs), Captain Case Parnell (135 lbs), Captain Jasmine Parnell (145 lbs), and Gracie Williams (155 lbs). Both Camryn and Gracie were competing for experience and mat time and wrestled hard though neither were able to place among a field of very experienced wrestlers. Capt. Case Parnell pinned her way to the championship match at 135 lbs but lost a very close match to Shelby Holm of Bolivar losing 4-7. Case took second place and is on track to qualify for the State Tournament at districts in February. Capt. Jasmine Koehler went 4-2 over the two day tournament by securing pins in all of her wins on her way to a fifth place finish against some very tough competition. Jasmine is also on track to qualify for the State Tournament in February at districts. The Lady Houn Dawgs proved that they are among the elite wrestlers in the state and we expect big things from them throughout the rest of the season. Thanks to Camryn and Gracie for taking pictures for us!

Last Saturday, December 20th, the Aurora High School wrestling team traveled to Jefferson City to compete in the Steve Johnson Invitational Tournament. The tournament consisted of mostly class 4, 5, and 6 schools with deep rosters. The boys (Captain Cody Parnell, Cameron Clevenger, Cameron Doyal, and Hayden Woods) wrestled hard but were unable to make the podium against such seasoned competition. Heavyweight Rayden Kay was able to notch a couple wins by pin to secure a 4th place finish. On the girls side, Freshman Gracie Williams and first year Junior Camryn Storkson both fought hard but weren't able to overcome their more seasoned opponents. Captains Case Parnell and Jasmine Koehler wouldn't be denied with Koehler securing a 3rd place finish and a bronze medal. Parnell ran through her bracket with ease securing a 1st place finish and a gold medal. Considering the level of competition, the Dawgs did quite well. Thank you to Tucker Cooper for taking some good action pictures.

On Thursday, 12/11 the Aurora High School wrestlers headed to Wyandotte, OK to take on Cassville and Wyandotte. Only three boys competed with the rest out with sickness and injury, and all four girls competed. Against the Wyandotte and Cassville girls, Captain's Case Parnell and Jasmine Koehler both secured victories by pin against both teams with Freshman Gracie Williams coming up short against more experienced opponents. On the guys side against Wyandotte, Heavyweight Rayden Kay dominated his opponent with a first period pin. Cameron Clevenger and Junior Lopez both faced some tough competition and ultimately cape up short against their more experienced foes. Cassville was in dominant form against the less experienced Houn Dawg squad. Rayden Kay made a valiant stand against Cassville's State Qualifier Ethan Sizemore even putting on his back early in the match. Ultimately, Sizemore's experience pulled him through to a 16-13 victory of the Houn Dawg Sophomore Heavyweight. Kay hopes to overcome Sizemore later in the Season at the Big 8 Conference Championship. With the Wyandotte Tri behind them the Dawgs will get some much needed rest from competition having just finished a grueling two week stretch of matches and tournaments. The Dawgs will be in action again on 12/20 for the Steve Johnson Invitational in Jefferson City, MO.

Here are some great pics from our All School Dual at Aurora High School on Wed 12/10/25. Thanks to J&M Photography for taking some fantastic action shots! The community showed up to support the Aurora Junior High and High School wrestlers as they took on Reeds Spring and Strafford. We began the evening introducing our new Aurora Youth Wrestling Club. Next we had our Senior walk where Captain's Jasmine Koehler and Cody Parnell along with 185lb wrestler Junior Lopez were honored for their time at AHS and contributions to the team. The wrestling started off with the Junior High Dawgs taking on Reeds Spring. Kellen Gaston and Judah Lewis started the night out strong for the Dawgs both securing pins in the first period before Reeds Spring turned up the heat and took the last 6 matches of the dual after some hard fought periods taking the dual with a final score of 31-12. Against Strafford the Junior High Dawgs bit back with Judah Lewis securing a tech fall and 5 points in the first match which energized a hungry Aurora team. Luke Hood, Braeden Harris, and Caleb Cooper all secured pins adding 18 points to the board and Hunter Batson pulled off a hard fought 9-1 major decision to give the Dawgs 27 points which was just enough to overcome Strafford's 24 points for securing 4 pins in the dual. The High School Dawgs were missing Captains Slate Schwin (157) and Case Parnell (135) due to injury and sickness as well as Varsity wrestlers Grant Price (126), Bryan Davis (132), Hayden Woods (157), and Michael Thomas (165). Due to the amount of Houn Dawgs out of the lineup Reeds Spring and Strafford both agreed to just wrestle the matches that could be made and set dual points aside for the evening. Heavyweight Rayden Kay was the standout performer of the night securing two pins in victories over Reeds Spring and Strafford. Captains Cody Parnell and Jasmine Koehler also secured victories in their only matches of the evening with Koehler securing a pin vs Strafford and Parnell securing a tech fall vs Reeds Spring. Varsity wrestlers Cameron Clevenger, Cameron Doyle, Junior Lopez, and Gracie Williams all wrestled well but fell short to more experienced opponents. Coach Jackson of Reeds Spring and Coach Burghardt of Strafford have both built very strong squads this season and the Houn Dawgs are hoping to be back to full strength when all three teams clash again at the Reeds Spring Scramble on 1/15/25. Thanks again to the community for all of your support so far this season! We greatly appreciate it!

Today our Aurora High School girls wrestling team headed to Nixa to participate in the Nixa Girls Invitational Tournament. This is one of the largest girls tournaments of the season with over 24 teams from all over the State competing. Case Parnell (135lbs) continued her winning ways by securing a 3rd place finish against State level competition. Both Camryn Storkson (105lbs) and Gracie Williams (155lbs) also competed and wrestled hard as well. Way to go Lady Houn Dawgs!
