SIYB will be taking a season hiatus to get some things straightened out. Our non-profit was labeled incorrectly as a "Private Foundation" which caused us to lose out on some grants and donations. We sailed the ship last season with no wind. We hired an attorney to amend our status, it took multiple e-mails, close to 1K up front, and the attorney we hired put off our filing for OVER a year. We finally couldn't wait any longer, asked for partial refund and had to have our accountant just file our tax return as a final. If we decide to pursue the venture again, we will have to see if we can file for a new non-profit status. Coach Jared had taken a Management position with difficult hours so we will miss out on our teams this Spring. There is nothing we wanted more than for this to pick up steam and just let kids play the game they love, bond with new friends in our local communities and get a little better at basketball. WE believe that any playing time is valuable, fundamentals are valuable, good sportsmanship is valuable. To our ICE families, please keep in touch with us!
