South Dearborn Middle School Archery

So last night at state. There were smiles and there were tears. In this picture you see something that can't be won. This is a picture that has tears due to integrity. This young archer shot a 9 but was awarded a 10. She did not realize until after arrows were pulled. When us coaches say "We use archery as a vessel to help make good humans" well here's a prime example. How many ppl, let alone children, would you expect to get upset about being given an extra point, especially at as big of a tournament as state is. This... is bigger then a state title any day. The conservation officers thought the same as well. They both gave her a HUGE honor by dawning her with a challenge coin. For those that don't know what a challenge coin is and the meaning, I highly urge you look it up. Short story of it, is its a sign of absolute integrity in law enforcement, and military. A champion is all in the eye of the be holder and for us coaches, we would all agree Catherine came out a champion last night

“Director of Community Education and Associate Activities director, said the district is lucky to have people who are willing to commit themselves to youth programs like Sabres Archery.

[Father and Coach, Bob] worked with the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) that provides the foundation for organizing a team. After more than a year of preparation, he was able to meet the requirements and find the needed teachers, space, equipment and funds to kick off the inaugural season in late 2022. It was hard work to get the archery program up and running, but in the end it was worth it when Brezinka saw his daughter, Brynn, score her first 50, a perfect score in one archery end.”

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SOUTH DEARBORN MIDDLE SCHOOL ARCHERS! We made NATIONALS! All of your hard work has paid off. There will be a MANDATORY meeting after spring break and at least (1) parent MUST attend this meeting. We will discuss practice times and information on nationals. I will send info thru REMIND app and FB.
