Margaret River Rowing Club

Margaret River Rowing Club Join and experience the River! http://www.margaretriverrowingclub.com/home/ Our club house sits beside the beautiful waters of the Margaret River.

Margaret River Rowing Club is a not for profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. We have a rich club history that started in 1974 and despite devastating loss in the fires, we are forging a new path growing our membership and facilities. We are affiliated with the governing body of rowing in Western Australia, Rowing WA. As we rebuild, the focus of the MRRC is:

encouraging members to parti

cipate positively in club life
ensuring our boats and rowing infrastructure are well maintained
encouraging inclusion
putting our club first
As well as providing access to a variety of water sports, including kayaking and SUPing; Our goal is to encourage more people in the Margaret River community to experience the wonderful sport of rowing and eventually add to the existing competitive rowing population in the southwest. To achieve this we plan to:

Offer a schools rowing program in the coming years
Provide social activities throughout the rowing season
Provide a well-managed and sustainable entry into rowing for new members
Provide the opportunity to join a competitive rowing squad or to row socially
Club equipment comprises single and double Spirit and Finn kayaks, SUP boards and rowing shells. We possess specialised single training sculls for absolute beginners and can attach stabilisers to existing craft for those with limited rowing experience or who haven't rowed for some time. Access is permitted any day at anytime before dark, and a keysafe code is provided once payment of membership fees has been confirmed. Committee members are frequently available to assist members and casual or training sessions are scheduled on our website for members information/registration. New or returning rowers are welcome.

ROWING CLUB OPEN DAY WRAP UP

The rowing club open day, held this past Sunday, was a great success.

Lots of people came down to check out the club. Questions were answered, people took out boats, and we catered for exactly the right number of breakfasts - winning!

We've had a few enquiries from people who couldn't make it, or who are wondering how it works.

This is how it works -

1. Sign up to become a member at https://www.margaretriverrowingclub.com/registration

2. You will be emailed a code to the boat shed.

3. You are then free to come and go as you wish.

If you've never been before, a committee member will be happy to meet you down there to show you around.

ROWING CLUB OPEN DAY

Sunday 16 November, 8 to 11am.

The forecast is looking like it's going to be a perfect day!

Come on down and check out the club.

Everyone is welcome. Adults, children, good doggos on leads.

Whether you are an ex-rower wanting to get back into it, or keen to paddle our beautiful River in a kayak or on a SUP, we have something to offer you.

Membership is ridiculously affordable at just $110 per year. That gives you unlimited access to the club and all the watercraft, every day.

At the Open Day we’ll have a few fun races, including the famous Dog on a SUP race!

Plus we’ll be serving a free BBQ breakfast.

Last Saturday we competed in the annual Augusta Picnic Regatta! 🚣‍♀️ 💦 A great morning on the Blackwood, despite a stiff southerly breeze making conditions less than favourable. Margaret River won the Veteran’s race (composite crew with East Fremantle) and put up some impressive competition in the men’s, women’s and mixed races, as well as the Margies Cup. Thanks to the Augusta Rowers for putting on a great day out and see you again next year!

Thanks to all those who turned up to help with our busy bee this morning! Pruning, raking and getting the boatshed grounds ready for burn-off season, improving the safety and access of our boat launching area, and giving everything a good blitz - cleaning windows, the toilet, and all the fun jobs!

🚣 SAVE THE DATE: SUNDAY DEC 3RD, 8AM - 11AM 💦 We are hosting our annual Community Open Day! All welcome - kids and well-behaved dogs (on leash) included. There will be fun races - including our famous 'dog on a SUP' race - with some great prizes, a rolling ergo/rowing machine comp throughout the morning 💪 tours of the boatshed and equipment, and most importantly... a FREE BBQ BREKKY! 😀 Kayaks and SUPs will be available to take out for a paddle once the races are complete.

To pre-empt the likely question of 'where is this mysterious rowing club?' - it's located off Wallcliffe Road, driveway marked 750, then an approx 400m walk from the parking area. There will be signage on the day.

Water levels super high this week before the river broke through to the ocean just yesterday. Minor flooding in the shed as they climbed a little higher than pictured here on Monday PM. Crazy!
