I captured my clients deer harvest on my tacticam. Kinda cool. He was shooting a 30-06 at appx 30 yards from the blind. You can actually see the muzzle flash if you watch the blind.

*** UPDATE ***

What a crazy night. After my client shot his first deer he stayed in the blind and kept watch. Sure enough a buck wandered in a while later and he took the shot. The buck jumped and ran off. He put his rifle on safe and noticed 2 more big does coming in. The safety went off and he fired at his 3rd deer.

When I arrived to the blind I immediately found his first deer which was a button buck (doe tag #1). After 5 minutes I found his second deer which was a real nice mature doe (doe tag #2). I continued looking for his buck but unfortunately I wasn’t able to locate it. There is no blood and no hair. We only had 45 minutes of daylight so we went home with his 2 deer. Tomorrow morning we will return and grid search again but I have a feeling it may have been a miss or the deer just didn’t bleed (the other two didn’t bleed out at all until they fell over).

All in all it was a successful day with 8 deer seen, 3 shot, and 2 recovered. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

ORIGINAL POST:

Just got word from my hunter, he has a doe down. However, after he shot her, 4 others came in and hung around so he waited for a buck to follow along. 3 of them walked off but one other doe apparently got tired and is currently bedded down in front of him right now. So now he has the perfect cover scent and is just waiting for a buck to show up. He does have a second doe permit but he hasn’t decided if he wants a second doe or just leave her alone to help draw in a buck. I’ll let you all know what happens later on.

I knew it was going to be a good day when I dropped the client off to the blind this morning and heard a pair of owls chatting back and forth. There is a matting pair that lives right near that blind and they are very vocal.

You can see the first dead doe to the right of the big tree and the red circle is my blind. The hunter took the other picture after shooting the doe. It’s funny how curious deer can be.
