The purpose of this page is to keep everyone informed on what we are doing in the summer recreation tennis program. On this page you will see lesson cancellations, daily information, tournament information, photos, and tennis opportunities.

WE’RE BACK!
Be on the look out for forms to go home with TK-8th students!
Camp will be June 22nd-26th.
Registration due April 24th to get regular pricing. Forms after that point go up $5.

If you need a form, feel free to message us here and we’ll gladly get you one!

REMINDER: Thursday is parents day for the TK-1 and 2-3 groups! Students can bring parents, family members, siblings, babysitters, etc for fun match ups!

We WILL be having camp today!

Staff will be at the courts around 7:45 to dry.
If you are wanting to help dry, we have about 6 brooms available. Cordless leaf blowers help as well! If you have an older student that comes early, we may put them to work drying!

Let’s meet our staff!

Last but not least, Sammy! Sammy started tennis in high school and was a dual sport athlete. The following season she chose to just do tennis and has been with us ever since! She never fails to make us laugh and we appreciate her dedication and help!

Next up we have Ava! It has been a privilege to watch Ava grow up in this program! Ava was one of our dedicated, fun-loving students. She went on to be the top seed on varsity and now an extremely important asset to the program!

Let’s meet our staff for this summer!

First up is the director of the program! McKenzie has been head coaching the program for nearly 15 years. She is also the head coach for the girls tennis program in Audubon.

Name: McKenzie Nissen
Years in tennis: 25 years
Hobby: Spending time with family and friends, playing sports and dancing, getting hooked on tv shows
Favorite Sports Team: Wheelers and ISU Cyclones
Future/Current Plans: I am a wife and mom to the two amazing babies in the picture! I teach third grade and coach tennis in Audubon. I’m an Audubon native along with my entire family, so I plan to be in this awesome community forever!
Favorite Thing About Summer Rec Tennis: I enjoy getting to watch kids grow from summer to summer and getting to introduce kids to a new sport! I also really enjoy who I get to coach with! We really have so much fun!

For any 6th graders interested in coming to camp:

6th grade time has been changed to 10-11.
We decided they would fit better with that group as opposed to the high school group!

Summer rec tennis starts TOMORROW!! We’re so excited to see what this summer brings! We’ve put in a lot of work to adjust to a week long camp and we’re looking forward to seeing it in action!

There is still time to register! See the form on this page or we will have extra. It is an additional $5 for being a “late” form.

WEATHER! This week doesn’t look great weather wise. We will get in as many lessons as possible and look into next week if it rains us out too much. Several days sound like maybe just afternoon rain. We will dry courts and may put out a plea for help with this. There may be days where we can get in certain groups before rain. We know as Iowans, weather changes on a dime.
Point being, please check here for any weather updates or cries for help!
