Women on Target — Shotgun Edition!

Today the LPRGC Women's Group hit the trap field, and what a day it was.

We started where we always start — safety. From there our shooters worked through the fundamentals of trapshooting: stance, grip, eye position, and hold points. Then we put it all together and taught them how to shoot a full round of trap, including how to lead a squad.

The result? Safe shooters, big smiles, and a whole lot of broken clays.

A huge thank you to our instructors and volunteers who made today happen, and to every lady who stepped up to the line. You crushed it.

The Women's Group holds events all year long — introduction to fi****ms, archery, trap, red dot pistol and rifle, and more. All are welcome, and we'd love to have you at the next one.

Mark your calendars!

The 2026 LPRGC Trap Championships will be held on Sunday, September 13. This is our biggest trap event of the year and tons of trophies are up for grabs. Complimentary food for all shooters and volunteers.

At last Saturday's Civilian Marksmanship Program match at LPRGC, the club conducted its very first CMP-sanctioned match for experienced marksmen. Eight shooters participated in the sanctioned match and registered great scores, with Andrew Schildt taking top honors for the day. Our second match, for newer shooters, brought 10 shooters to the line, with scores for four of them submitted to the CMP as well. Caitlyn Skripek took top score in the second match, in her very first sanctioned CMP match! Our matches are open to the public, so come on out and join us for a great day of shooting!

At Tuesday's General Meeting of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club (LPRGC), Frank Tait presents a plaque to Andrew Schildt in recognition of his Distinguished Rifleman Badge, which he earned last week by taking his final leg points at the CMP National Matches at Camp Perry, OH.

Monthly Sanctioned and Non-Sanctioned CMP Matches are Coming to Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club

Beginning August 1, 2026, the Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club will host both sanctioned CMP non-EIC and non-sanctioned matches on the 1st Saturday of every month at our 100-yard rifle range. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or shooting your first match, all skill levels are welcome. Match details, course of fire, and event information can be found in the flyer.

CMP Shooters with a Number and Classification, 8:00AM
Open Match starts at 9:30 AM for all experience levels.

UPDATE: The snow removal work is done and the club is once again open to members. Please use caution while you’re onsite.

Due to the anticipated storm, all club facilities, both indoor and outdoor, will close at 12:00AM on Monday and will remain closed until further notice. This will allow our snow removal team to complete their tasks without impediment.
