My Story
Every small business owner starts the same way: with a vision, and the guts to bet on themselves.
But somewhere along the way, the vision gets buried under the day-to-day. You're the one holding it all together — the decisions, the team, the money, the future — and it's hard to tell anymore whether you're building something that will outlast you, or something that only survives as long as you're the one holding it up.
If that sounds familiar, I want you to know something: you're not failing. You just need a guide who's actually been where you are.
I have.
I spent seven years building Doughnut Evolution from scratch — a gourmet food truck business in New Jersey that started as an idea and grew into a real, scaled operation. I know what it takes to build something from nothing: the hustle, the risk, the long hours.
Then life forced a hard reset. A health crisis in my family changed everything overnight. We sold what we'd built — for far less than it was worth — and started over in Florida.
It took about a year of distance before the lesson became clear: I hadn't built that business to survive without me. If I'd planned my exit earlier, built systems that didn't depend on me being there every day, and brought in outside guidance sooner, the ending could have looked completely different. That regret has stayed with me — and it's exactly why I do this work today.
Later, in a corporate leadership role, I saw the flip side of the same problem. I managed a team of 14 talented people and built every process I could think of — but I learned that systems and effort alone don't create growth. Growth happens when someone is genuinely hungry for it, and has a guide who can show them the way. That distinction crystallized for me at an industry conference, watching a room full of people — many not even making money yet — who were upbeat, hungry to learn, accountable, and locked in on where they were headed. That's the energy I wanted to spend my time around.
So here's what I know for certain: you're the hero of your own business story. You don't need someone to take it over or tell you who to be. You need a guide who has built, lost, rebuilt, and learned — the hard way — what separates a business that survives from one that thrives no matter what happens to the person running it.
That's what Focal Point Coaching is. I bring you clarity on your priorities, a plan for the four critical areas of your business — time, team, money, and future — and the accountability to actually follow through.
