🤍 Our beloved Annie has peacefully passed on.
🤍 Please take time the note to read from Auburn CrossFit owner, Cinnamon Prior
Dear ACF Family,
It’s with a heavy heart, but with a heart filled with gratitude, joy, blessings, and countless memories, that I am sharing the news that our beloved “Super Annie” has peacefully passed.
While I know this will be read with sadness, I am confident that Annie would want us to celebrate her by living with as much presence and joy as possible. We can all honor Annie by living as she did. She had a smile and greeting for everyone she came across, and no one remained a stranger. Sheembodied the word “community.”
When Annie came to Auburn CrossFit, she was 89 and only saw what was possible. She had no excuses and was always ready to try anything. She taught me more about coaching, relationships, and embracing joyful moments, than I could have ever imagined.
She imparted a patience in me, as the few things that stood between Annie and a workout was an opportunity to spread some love, offer a hug or stop to pet a dog she spotted from a mile away — and time wasn’t a factor . She had the experience to understand what really mattered in the moment and embrace it. This was one of the many important lessons she taught me, in spite of not always realizing it in the moment.
She believed anything was possible and focused on what she “could” do rather than getting mired in the struggle. Annie chose to, and loved to, live her life with purpose, ON purpose, and without need of apology.
I believe we can all learn from Annie. Be proud of and celebrate ourselves and one another. Spread joy and kindness, and a smile whenever possible. Annie never missed an opportunity to celebrate her moments.
We have all been blessed with the gift of having Annie leave a lasting mark on us. I don’t know if she was aware of how much she shaped our Auburn CrossFit community and her Legends family, but I know we willall feel her absence.
While I feel the light has dimmed with Annie moving on, let’s continue to shine Annie’s bright light. Let’s shine her light for those who were not fortunate enough to know her. It’s our turn to shine her light forward.
Let’s honor Annie by carrying that light with us—in our community, in our relationships, and in the way we choose to live our lives.
With gratitude for having known Annie and for the mark she has left on all of us.
