What does it take to run 330 kilometers through the Alps?
For Baguio-based policeman and trail runner Miguel Carranza, the answer goes far beyond simply putting one foot in front of the other.
In this episode of Beyond The Finish Line, we sit down with Manong Miguel as he prepares to take on TOR330 – Tor des Géants, one of the world’s most demanding endurance trail races.
Set in Italy’s Aosta Valley, the TOR330 takes runners across 330 kilometers and 24,000 meters of elevation gain, with a maximum time of 150 hours. It is a race that demands not only physical endurance, but patience, strategy, resilience, and the ability to keep making good decisions when the body and mind are asking you to stop.
But this isn’t simply a story about a race.
Miguel’s journey as a runner exists alongside his life in service, his family, his community, and the mountains that have become such an important part of his life.
We talk about what running has taught him, what drives him toward increasingly difficult challenges, and how the lessons learned on the trail can extend far beyond it.
Because sometimes, the finish line isn’t the point.
It's what the journey teaches you before you get there.
