Team,
Over the past few months, our Tuesday self-defense and kickboxing classes have served as excellent preparation for Shihan’s recent seminar. The energy and feedback were outstanding, and many of you asked to keep the class going.
To move forward with purpose, we are launching a structured self-defense program with a clear vision and strong foundation. We will build this program on American Karate as the core base.
Why Karate?
Karate provides an excellent, safe foundation for all martial arts training. It focuses on proper hand strikes, kicks, footwork, blocks, parries, and kata. The curriculum is well-organized, less physically demanding than Jiu-Jitsu or Muay Thai, and allows for significant solo practice. It builds discipline, confidence, structure, and technical skill in a low-impact environment.
Our Program Structure
SIMS 1: American Shotokan Karate + Jiu-Jitsu self-defense A clear, progressive curriculum with specific goals and timelines. This is where we begin.
SIMS 2: Combat sports and advanced arts Includes BJJ, Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, Filipino martial arts, JKD, and more.
Jiu-Jitsu: Our dedicated grappling program (already well-established).
We have a strong Jiu-Jitsu program and have dabbled in SIMS 2. Now it’s time to commit fully by starting at the foundation: Karate.
First Phase – Building Leaders
Starting April 2026, we are opening Tuesday evening Karate classes (6:00 PM) to all current adult students and youth (age 9+) who are gray belt or higher.
This initial group (April – August 2026) will train with the goal of becoming assistant instructors. We are looking for serious, committed students only.
In September 2026, we will open a new beginner white belt class. Our advanced students will then help mentor and teach the next generation.
Next Steps
If you’re committed, join our Signal group. Email me at mailto:[email protected] for the link. You can see the curriculum and what is expected belt by belt, stripe by stripe, and our expected guidelines. Don’t Wait! Times only flying by. Work on your Karate Black Belt Now.
Attend Tuesdays at 6:00 PM.
We will likely add a second weekly class soon due to demand.
This is more than just another class — it’s about building a strong, lasting traditional martial arts and self-defense community in Auburn. We’re committed to passing on the knowledge and creating future leaders.
Get on board if you’re ready to train consistently and help grow the program.
Viva La Karate!
