Taekwondo is commonly taught through five ethical tenets: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. They matter because Taekwondo is intended to develop character alongside physical skill, directing training and self-defense ability toward respect, discipline, and responsible conduct.ย
The tenets turn martial arts training into more than kicking, blocking, and sparring: they are behavioral standards for both inside and outside the dojang. Courtesy and self-control make practice safer; integrity establishes ethical limits on force; perseverance and indomitable spirit sustain learning through difficulty. #
