We haven’t posted in a while, so thought we’d share these two doing some things they’ve never before been able to do.

Cindy, now able to perform real pushups from the floor, and David trying out handstand pushups! It’s things like this that make training fun—-realizing you’re capable of more than you thought, and that the work you’re putting in is creating a positive change.

Our philosophy has always been about placing value in what you gain from fitness, rather than how much (weight) you lose which tends to be an underlying goal for most.

Think about the next year, or farther for that matter…what physical capability would you like to gain?

There is no pill, or drug you can take that will do this. ‘This’ is the drive to change your lifestyle, to get healthier, stronger and more fit. Sure, you can take certain drugs that will seemingly melt the weight right off, but at a pretty steep metabolic cost which may only be doing more harm than good in the long run.

has done something that most aren’t willing to do! She committed to us, and more importantly herself, that she was going to do this consistently. She challenged herself to lift heavy, and eat healthier. Increasing her protein intake, and drastically decreasing her soda intake were the two significant nutrition priorities that she stuck to, and the results speak for themselves.

Consistency can’t be replaced.

Over the last 15-20 years, “functional training” has been described, and hyped up as a style of training that prepares a person for activity or situations they may encounter outside of the gym. One of the most far-fetched reasons I’ve heard for training clean & jerks (for a certain certification course) for example, was; “what do you think you need to do when putting those groceries away on that top shelf in the cabinets?!” Bit of a stretch, eh?

A far better real world example of why to get stronger and more fit is through the situation that faced recently. At 65 years young, Judy accidentally got locked out of the house. No problem for her though! She was able to climb through a window, off of a ladder, without breaking a sweat.

The evolution of these pictures don’t quite capture the amount of work, emotion and stress we (especially Sarah) went through to demo and build out this space. and I set a goal to do it in a month which we were told would be basically impossible. I’m happy to say we did…and we’re still married! However, it wasn’t without significant help from family and friends.

This new space provides us with a much needed revitalization of our business, our mentality, and our passion for strength & fitness! Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years, and especially those of you who helped make this move possible!

One of the best ways to get the most biased, inaccurate, cherry-picked data and agenda driven information on nutrition/diets is through just about any Netflix documentary on the subject. Their design is set to spark an emotional reaction, often guilt, without providing context. Most people won’t bother validating the information their shown because they’re “experts” or medical doctors (who’s education in nutrition is typically severely lacking). Don’t be fooled.

Any exercise done improperly, regardless of the load or intensity, can adversely affect the lower back while it is already the subject of discomfort, or pain for a relatively high percentage of the population.

Conversely, the opposite would also be true in which (most) exercises done properly will favorably affect the lower back. This is not because they are specific lower back exercises, but because they build core strength which aides in stabilizing the lower back.

People often think they need more “core work” whether it’s to “tone” their middle, or to help their back. However, core work as a standalone lacks versatility and value when compared to what you could be practicing.

Use “core work” (most people understand to be things like planks, crunches, sit-ups, etc.) as an accessory. This means, if there’s time AFTER the higher value stuff is done.

*Side-note* —-If you want to “tone” your middle, or see an ab for summmer… put a little more effort into the more important stuff (see pic above for example) and focus less on the planks, sit-ups, and crunches.
