Here we go! 🤼

Youth wrestling season is just around the corner, and we’re excited to get back in the room and work with our athletes again this year!

The handout below will be coming home from school with students in the next week or so. Like last year, we’re also offering online registration for families who would rather take care of it now.

A few important things to know for this season:

🔸 Beginner Group: All first- and second-year wrestlers, regardless of age.

🔸 Advanced Group: Wrestlers with more than two years of wrestling experience.

🔸 T-Shirts: Every wrestler will receive an SEWC T-shirt as part of their registration.

📅 MANDATORY PARENT MEETING — SEPTEMBER 28
đź“Ť Second floor of the Athletic Complex near the football field
6:30 PM — Beginner Group Parents
7:30 PM — Advanced Group Parents

Athletes do not need to attend the parent meeting.

We’ll use the meeting to go over practice expectations, parent communication, tournament information, and other common questions so everyone is ready for the season.

🚨Youth Wrestling Update🚨

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that we will by starting youth wrestling practices in October this year. In previous years, we have started in November. Due to much of the youth schedule being moved up at the state level, we wanted to adapt accordingly.

I will be getting more information about parent meetings, registration, etc. out in the next week or so, but wanted to give everyone adequate time to plan. Please reach out if you have any questions ahead of our parent meetings. - Coach Alexander

The youth wrestling season will be kicking off before we know it! I’ll be sharing the exact practice days and times, fees, parent meeting information, and other season details over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some information about practices at Ohio Cyclones in Tiffin.

Over the past few seasons, we’ve built a strong relationship with Ohio Cyclones, and this year we’ll be expanding on that partnership. One of the biggest pieces of feedback we received from our families last season was the desire for more opportunities to practice. Our partnership with Cyclones is designed to provide exactly that.

Between the two clubs, advanced wrestlers will have four practice options each week, while beginners will have two.

I’ll be coaching the beginner group at Cyclones this year, and I would love to see more of our wrestlers take advantage of both rooms throughout the season. Wrestling with different partners and coaches is a great way to challenge yourself, learn new things, and continue to grow.

I know many of our youth families already take advantage of opportunities in Tiffin for football, and my hope is that wrestling will receive the same support. Attending practices at Cyclones will be a great way to jumpstart your season and get some extra time on the mat.

I’ll provide more details at our parent meetings, which will take place sometime in mid-September.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

As the month of July comes to a close, we will no longer be holding Open Mats on Sundays. Good luck to not just our wrestlers, but all our SE students hitting the show rings at local fairs and competing this fall in volleyball, football, golf, and cross country.

Still keep an eye on this page as we will continue sharing local opportunities to get mat time for those who want to continue to work.
