New Fastest Known Paddle alert!

Congratulations to Scott Allen & Kirk Dresen for paddling 13 miles on Spring Creek in Wisconsin in 7 hours, 31 minutes. This is a beautiful but challenging route with meanders and log jams alternating with easier sections. The creek goes through the Lodi Marsh and is surrounded by rolling hills.

Scott and Kirk now jointly hold the overall FKP as well as the fastest solo male time.
This is our 6th route with an official fastest time in Wisconsin.

New Fastest Known Paddle alert!

Congratulations to Trevor Boyer for paddling 106 miles on the East Nishnibotna River in southwest Iowa in 1 day, 8 hours and 46 minutes.

This is our 2nd route with Fastest Known Paddle times in Iowa, with the other being the Cedar River.

Trevor took advantage of high water due to recent rain. Did he flip over? Did he have an unexpected portage? Did he demonstrate that a seemingly unremarkable river can, in fact, be extraordinary?

Read Trevor’s excellent trip report on the Fastest Known Paddle website to find out!

NEW FASTEST KNOWN PADDLE ALERT!

Congratulations to Scott Duffus, Curt Leitz, Lada Zednik and Scott Miller* for setting the record for breaking the overall fastest known paddle time for the 2,341 mile Missouri River from June 23- July 18, 2026.

The new record is 24 days, 16 hours and 51 minutes.

The team faced massive waves on Lake Oahe that necessitated camping on shore overnight. They also battled heat and sleep deprivation. They were frequently overwhelmed by the beauty of the river.

The paddlers received coveted "purple hats" in New Haven, Missouri; everyone who thru-paddles the Missouri is eligible to get one and join the select group of purple hat people. The Missouri River has an incredible community built up around it; more info at the Missouri River Paddlers Facebook group and website.

When this team set out they thought they were trying to break a 46 year old record set in 1980 by legendary paddlers Verlen Kruger and Steve Landick, however Peter Larson was in the midst of trying to set a solo Fastest Known Paddle time on the river and he was so fast he broke Verlen and Steve's overall record by just over 1.5 days. Peter retains the fastest known paddle time for a solo paddler, and he did it entirely self-supported.

Congratulations to Jacob Deleon and Tyler Esteban (both 34 years old and both from Kansas City, MO) for establishing a record time of 4 hours and 45 minutes on the 16-mile Little Platte River route in the Kansas City area (from Smithville Lake Dam to Sharps Station on the Platte River), on June 20, 2026

Jacob & Tyler paddled two Pelican kayaks (Fastestknownpaddle.org categorizes two solo boats working together as two separate supported solo attempts.)

Jacob & Tyler had 13 log jams in roughly 16 miles. They water was a little high so that helped with speed but made those log jams a little more intense.
