IMPORTANT UPDATE: ABFD Junior Lifeguard Camp -Session 3, July 7—11.
Attention parents of 2025 ABJLG participants, we are continuing to monitor the effects of Tropical Storm Chantal as it passes over tonight and early Monday. As of right now, JLG Camp is still on for tomorrow and we will modify activities based on surf and current conditions. Any changes, delays or cancellations will be posted as soon as possible on the JLG and Town of Atlantic Beach pages.
Please see below for details regarding drop off and pick up for all sessions.
DROP OFF:
Participants should arrive between 8:50 and 9:00am daily and should be dropped off at the AB Circle Beach Access (between Davis Beachwear and the Tackle Box Tavern). Children should not be dropped off prior to 8:50, as staff will be preparing for daily activities and cannot provide supervision.
On Monday morning, parents should plan to arrive between 8:45-9:00am and should accompany their child to the main lifeguard stand on the beach for a brief introductory meeting. Please check in with Chief Simpson (red truck) as you make your way to the beach.
Participants should be dropped off at the same location for the remainder of the week.
Please remember to bring a towel, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
PARKING:
Paid parking begins at 9AM daily. On Junior Lifeguard session days, there will be leniency at the Circle Beach Access parking spaces until 9:20am to allow participants to be dropped off.
PICK UP:
Participants should be picked up daily by 12:00pm in front of the AB Circle Beach Access in front of Davis Beachwear. Staff will begin walking children up to the circle shortly before noon to ensure timely pickup. Please pull over to the side when picking up children so as to not impede the traffic flow around the circle. Parents do not need to park and leave their vehicles at pickup. All children must be picked up by their parent/guardian unless prior arrangements have been made with staff.
On Friday, parents are invited to attend all or part of the beach session to observe the skills learned throughout the week. Friday’s session will conclude a few minutes early for participants to move to the Atlantic Beach Fire Department (125 W. Fort Macon Rd) for a pizza and awards ceremony beginning at noon. Families are invited to attend.
Please continue to monitor this page for updates should any scheduling changes need to be made during the week due to inclement weather or other circumstances.
Please forward any questions to Capt. Scott Bell at [email protected] or Chief Mike Simpson at [email protected].
