On 5/29/23 Lindu Lu passed and will be missed. Linda was part of our ParaTri Program and participated in our OWS. If you had the privilege of meeting her you were touched and inspired by her. She will be sorely missed by ATC! Here is a post from her sister:
My little sister Linda passed away last night and joined our father in heaven. She passed at exactly 8pm, which is the luckiest Chinese number. She was only 33 but the Linda’s Shenanigans Netflix series would be 100 seasons long.
Megan and I were able to hold her hands and noticed how peaceful and beautiful she looked in her final moments.
We were surrounded over the past week with her best friends. They came from near and far. Anna was only 15 minutes away. Tonya, Sarah Beth, and Sarah Becca about an hour away. Melissa flew from Orlando. Alan and his wife Nydia drove with their kids 8 hours. Lydia flew down from the UP of Michigan. Jess travelled by bus, boat and plane from the remotest part of the Philippines. Sarah, Anna and Lydia slept at her side and made sure someone was with her at all times. We filled the room. There was almost always at least one person who politely said they needed to stretch their legs and stand a little.
We laughed. We cried. We laughed and cried simultaneously at times. We wallpapered her room with photos. We shared old stories, pictures and videos. We talked to her, we sang to her, we played her favorite songs, shows, and movies for her. We ordered her favorite foods and ate at the food of her bed, standing, or sitting on the floor of her room.
We (everyone except me) detangled and washed her matted her. Sarah did her eyebrows, and they looked perfect. Tonya and Sarah snuck her cat Pita into the hospital to say goodbye.
When we transitioned to her hospice room, we unpacked and repacked into 3 different rooms until we found the right one for her.
In the end, we needed Megan’s faith and strength to help us know when it was Linda’s time. She helped us all recognize Linda was ready. She also arranged an emergency baptism and somehow I took part in the baptism ceremony and am now both her brother and godfather.
I feel so blessed to have Linda in my life. One day we’ll be together again. Until then, I’ll love her. I’ll miss her. I’ll look for signs of her in the world as I navigate forward. I’ll make sure Judy, Max, and Frank remember their Aunt Linda too.
