With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year, I developed the artwork theme as a tribute to this historic occasion. The match logo integrates the 1776 Ross Flag with today's Old Glory, honoring the country's Semiquincentennial while establishing the match identity. Space constraints shaped the logo design, but the match shirts allowed much more freedom in layout and creative choices. The overall theme is Celebrating Freedom, with General George Washington as a central element.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐒𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧: My research spanned historical depictions of General George Washington and colonial-era soldiers as key visual references. The art style draws from some of my favorite artists β€” John Berkey, Syd Mead, and Sparth β€” for a more edgy, modern, and abstract aesthetic.

π€πππ’ππ’π¨π§πšπ₯ 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐒𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧: 122nd Fighter Wing, Indiana ANG - The 122nd Fighter Wing, based in Fort Wayne, IN, was originally known as "The Marksmen" before adopting the identity "The Blacksnakes" in 1997. The Marksmen identity ties directly to Fort Wayne's history and General Mad Anthony Wayne (also known as "Black Snake"), who commanded highly skilled soldiers β€” many of them sharpshooters.

Artwork on the unit's aircraft and patches often depicted a side profile of a U.S. Springfield Model 1795 flintlock musket, or General Mad Anthony Wayne on horseback with a rifle in hand. Inspired by that artwork, I chose a flat, side-profile depiction of George Washington and gave it a modern style.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: The 122nd FW is the first and only Air National Guard unit to host a Designated Marksman course. "All Marksmen are Blacksnakes, but not all Blacksnakes can be Marksmen."

𝐊𝐞𝐲 πƒπžπ¬π’π π§ 𝐄π₯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:
* The design is a tribute to America's 250th birthday, with π‚πžπ₯πžπ›π«πšππ’π§π  π…π«πžπžππ¨π¦ as the central theme.
* The text and gold decoration surrounding the image are styled to evoke a colonial-era poster.
* The 13 bullet holes in the center-down zero represent the original 13 colonies, styled after the star pattern used on the 1776 flag.
* George Washington's uniform is painted in red, white, and blue to symbolize the U.S. flag.
* Artistic license was taken to add a hand towel on his belt, a saddlebag for ammunition, and additional period details.
* The target is a standard IDPA target with colonial-era styled text for the scoring zones.

I also developed a special design celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the IDPA, which will be printed on a match shirt sleeve.

It was truly an honor to create the artwork for the Indiana State IDPA Championship β€” blending the celebration of our country's 250th birthday with the πŸ‘πŸŽππ‘ π€π§π§π’π―πžπ«π¬πšπ«π² 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐑𝐞 πˆπƒππ€

We’re proud to spotlight our Gold Sponsor Lux Tactical and their product the Lux Tactical Skyraider Gen 2 Competition Sight.

When every fraction of a second matters and every shot must land with certainty, the Skyraider Gen 2 Competition Sight rises to the challenge. Engineered for competitive shooters who demand speed, clarity, and absolute reliability, this optic delivers a commanding sight picture and instant target acquisition.

At the heart of the Skyraider Gen 2 is its extra-large viewing window, giving you an expansive field of view that naturally guides your eye to the reticle. Whether you’re transitioning between targets or driving the gun hard through a stage, the sight picture remains clean, fast, and intuitive. It’s built to keep up with the pace of USPSA, IDPA, and 3-Gun competition.

Versatility meets precision with six reticle options, including a crisp 2 MOA dot for precision shots, a bold 6 MOA dot for rapid acquisition, and a dynamic circle-dot system with a 60 MOA ring that excels in close-range engagements. No matter your shooting style or stage design, the Skyraider adapts instantly to your needs.

Every detail is designed with the shooter in mindβ€”from tool-less windage and elevation adjustments using a 9mm brass rim, to a parallax-free design with unlimited eye relief that keeps your focus exactly where it belongs: on the target.

The Skyraider Gen 2 isn’t just an upgradeβ€”it’s a competitive advantage. Built for shooters who push limits and expect their gear to do the same, it delivers the speed, control, and confidence you need to perform at your best.
