Henry County Olympic and Paralympic Day Commemorating the Olympic Games and the Olympic ideals of Sportsmanship Fair Play, Respect, and Pers Did you know?

Free Event: Henry County Olympic and Paralympic Day

On Saturday, July 02, 2022, the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization affiliated with the USA Boxing, Inc., will host its 10th annual free community event for youth of all ages called "Henry County Olympic and Paralympic Day.” This is a free event open to the public, and the USOPC mandates that hosts cannot use it as a fundraiser. To accomplish this, we seek community support from leadership and residents through in-kind and time donations (volunteering). Our 2022 Host Venue, Granite City Boxing Club, is currently the only USA Boxing-registered boxing club in Henry County. Granite City Boxing Club has produced athletes who have become national champions and competed in the U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials, as well as the Puerto Rican Olympic Boxing Trials. What is Olympic and Paralympic Day?

“Henry County Olympic and Paralympic Day” is recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) as
an official World Olympic Day event promoting the Olympic ideals of Fair Play, Perseverance, Respect, and Sportsmanship through
fitness and educational fun. Celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, Olympic and Paralympic Day is not only a celebration but an international effort where communities across the United States will celebrate through educational programming and other activities.

Team Georgia Unified Softball Team, better known as Big Dogs, started the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota by winning both rounds! Way to go, Henry County Olympians!!!
