This year we are having our first annual Friendsgiving celebration on Black Friday.
This event is open to everyone and all schools. You, and all of your friends and family, teammates, and everyone else, are invited to come train for free on Friday, November 25th. We will be hosting complimentary classes and open mats from 10am - 1pm (see graphic for schedule) and then will be having a potluck style lunch for any and everyone at 1pm.
So grab your favorite people, your training gear, and your favorite dish, and come spend the day with your friends at KnuckleUp!

5:30 pm Fri class did a great job completing MURPH. It’s 10 am’s turn! Please don’t forget why we are doing this workout.

What is Murph?

Murph is a CrossFit Hero workout which Murphy himself would regularly do. Murphy called it “Body Armor” and it was the same workout we know and love today:

1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run

Murph would complete this while wearing his body armor. The CrossFit version of this suggests wearing a 20lb weight vest and allows the middle portion to be partitioned as needed.

What's the point of doing Murph on Memorial Day?

Unlike other CrossFit workouts, completing Murph isn't about crushing your time or competing or even finishing the workout as written. Murph exists as a reminder of the actions and sacrifices of men and women like Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy. Murph is an opportunity for those of us who are still around to celebrate Memorial Day to experience a whole bunch of discomfort and intensity as a tribute to men and women like Lieutenant Murphy.

This doesn't mean you can't enjoy your day off, have a BBQ, or buy a deeply discounted laundry machine. Just don't forget that Murph isn't only a workout and always remember the men and women whose sacrifices have afforded us the opportunity and freedom we enjoy every day.

We will have many scaled options available! So there’s something for everyone!

Put your fears aside and let’s honor all of our fallen soldiers who fought for us. Remember, there is a version for EVERYONE. No excuses.

Wear all the red, white and blue! Let’s get it.

In honor of Memorial day, KuCrossFit will be hosting the Murph challenge on 5/28/22 Sat at 10 am. We welcome all friends and members to join. We will have scaling options available for beginners.

The Murph Challenge is the Official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation, presented by Forged®.

Please remember why we are doing this workout. It is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and allows us the opportunity to dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor LT. Michael P. Murphy (SEAL), a man who sacrificed everything he had for our freedom. Join us this year as we continue to help keep his legacy alive through The Murph Challenge campaign.
