"On Track Georgia" is a youth program located in the heart of the city of Atlanta, one block away from Turner Field Stadium. This area is one of the most poverty stricken areas in Atlanta Metropolitan. According to the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, nearly one in five Georgians lives in poverty; more than 60,000 are children. These children are often times not afforded the same opportunities
to exemplify their skills and talents by way of extra curriculum activities. In efforts to change that, we created a running program, On Track Georgia. On Track Georgia competes against other youth organizations in Georgia in events such as the Shot Put, High Jump, 1600M, 800M & many other races. We are fighting to help the children of Atlanta defy sedentary lifestyles and fight childhood obesity, which has been a growing problem here in Georgia and across the nation. In addition, we strive to provide educational resources for these children in efforts to increase the below average education rates and rising drop out rates. We will continue to give back to the children by instilling in them strong values, morals, and discipline; however, we need the support of our community. We know that encouraging the children to set their own goals and holding them accountable for their actions will not only help them grow within, but will also help them develop a brighter future; developing leaders for the community.
