It´s true, in most areas of life black girls and black women are built by family and society to believe they can only show love through acts of continuous service, we are taught to put everyone first, and we come second, and when we become mothers this only turns into a bigger reality, unavoidable.🥵😓

Consequently, self-love becomes a vanity, a second time act, we think we gain value by our service and overwhelming work we’re taking care of everyone so, yeah, we forget, we don´t remember to take care of ourselves too.🌈⛈

In our minds we accept the value we are granted by society… but guess what, society messes up most of the time!💫☺️

So what if they think you don´t have the value? You tell them you DO! You matter, and a LOT!🧐

It was hard for me to find a place I belonged to, a place to call mine and to really feel ¨mine¨✍️🏿👀

And I know for many black moms out there sadly this process is equally challenging, why is that? you may ask yourself.👁

From the very beginning we face many obstacles in this path, we are perceived differently sometimes and we know it, anxiety can take over, and even sadness in the path of motherhood.🤰🏿

So, I´m not here to tell you that this is happening, because you already know it so stop punishing yourself through exhaustion to conform to other's expectations! 🐝

Family is important, essential even.🌻
In the darkest of times, it provides us with a safe haven, a place we can go to calm our spirit and regain strength, when days are sunny and happiness fills us we have a group of people ready to celebrate with us with true joy. Some people have the joy of having a blood family that gives them all this and more, others may find this place between bushes in not-so-common places.⚡️☔️
I decided a long time ago I would create this place for me and other moms by myself, a community, as the concept up there stays, connected people, together to overcome a threat, in many cases that threat being our own misconception of our worth, so busy doing that we forget to do for us too!🌦☄️

It´s quite a trip the one we take when we decide wholeheartedly to begin the journey towards a goal.🍂🥰

We often do this with our hearts and minds sober and ready, at least at first. This has value, it means we really want and we want to really make the changes we must make to reach our vision.

But the truth is, we often lose track of this path, why? Well, because is not easy to keep ourselves centered on something we want when the easy way out is usually present and just simpler to follow, so maybe I will stay up late only tonight, I will quit my healthy eating habits for this week, or I will stop reading this book because I just don´t have time... Excuses pile up but the reward never comes.🦋🐛
