Can you sit down on the floor and stand back up without using your hands? Researchers found that each point you score on this simple test is linked to a 21% improvement in survival. It comes down to strength, balance, and mobility - exactly the things that slip away when we stop challenging our muscles.

At Vivo, progressive strength training with a certified trainer helps you stay strong, steady, and independent.

"Physical activity is one of the most effective tools we have to preserve our independence and support our brain health." Love this from PA Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich. Research estimates 45% of dementia cases could be delayed through exercise and lifestyle changes - and you don't need to figure it out alone.

Vivo pairs you with a certified trainer who adjusts every workout to your level, so you're always challenged and always progressing.

The Oxford Longevity Project just laid out five daily habits for healthy aging - they call it S-MEDs: Sleep, Movement, Exercise, Diet, and Stress management. Their message? Lifestyle choices matter more than genetics when it comes to how we age. I couldn't agree more.

Vivo was built on the same idea: that consistent, progressive strength training with real coaching can change how you feel and function as you get older.

Marion didn’t train for a race. She trained for moments like this.

On May 3rd this year, she joined 32,000 riders at the 5 Boro Bike Tour, covering 40 miles across New York City – through all five boroughs, on streets usually filled with cars, now wide open for something different.

It wasn’t just about the distance. It was about everything that came before it: the steady effort, the consistency, and the choice to keep showing up even on ordinary days.

That’s the essence of Vivo – building strength not just for workouts, but for moments like this.

With Coach Kelly’s support, Marion built that foundation and now she’s already planning her next adventure: a bike trip through Acadia National Park this September.

As Marion shared, “I am very grateful to be part of the Vivo community.”

Still moving. Still saying yes. 🚴‍♀️ 🧡

70% of age-related fractures happen in people who don't have osteoporosis. Let that sink in. A DEXA scan measures bone density, but it doesn't tell you everything about your fracture risk. The most effective non-pharmaceutical approach? Balance training and resistance exercise to stimulate new bone growth while building the strength to prevent falls in the first place. It's one of the core reasons Vivo exists - helping people build the kind of strength that keeps them safe and independent.

"Consistency matters more than intensity when it comes to healthy aging." Love this from Dr. Jay Luthar. He also points out that resistance training just two times per week is enough to see meaningful results. That's the foundation Vivo is built on - progressive, structured strength training with a real trainer making sure every rep counts. You don't need to go extreme. You just need to show up.

A $1 million research investment to study how exercise benefits older adults - that's how seriously the University of Sherbrooke takes physical activity as a tool for healthy aging. Their research chair is working to get exercise recognized as a therapeutic intervention, not just a lifestyle choice.

This is exactly the kind of evidence-based thinking behind Vivo. We know that structured, progressive strength training changes lives, and the science keeps backing it up.

"We know exercising and eating right is going to improve our health, but making efforts to participate in programs that offer guidance and accountability could be especially effective at keeping us healthy as we age." That's Mark Espeland, lead researcher on a major two-year NIH trial of 2,100+ adults ages 60-79. Structured programs with coaching significantly reduced biological frailty compared to going it alone.

That's the whole idea behind Vivo - real coaching and accountability, because guidance makes the difference between good intentions and real results.
