I constantly tell the left that they need to get armed and trained to protect themselves against right-wing violence. In most cases, I'm referring to protecting themselves from individual MAGA cultists. I would NEVER imply that owning an assault rifle would give you a chance of overcoming the government.
However, think back to the Bundy Ranch standoff. These people were directly violating the law, yet law enforcement made no significant moves at that time. Because the traitors there were heavily armed and ready to fight. I'm not saying a group of trained and armed leftists could overcome a government onslaught. What I am saying is that they could serve as a deterrent.
If you're absolutely against owning fi****ms, then by all means, you do you. However, that heartfelt belief will not serve as a deterrent to... well, anything. The Second Amendment was created for moments PRECISELY like those we're living through.
Trump is pushing the limits. He's not going to just stop. There is no point where he'll say "Heck, I got away with all these constitutional violations, so I'll just call it a day and stop committing them." We're already in a war, whether you want to admit it or not.
Wars aren't won through peaceful thoughts and good intentions. Make sure you're able to protect yourself and your family. Even if you don't/can't own a firearm, there are knives, pepper spray, tasers, "tactical pens", batons, and many other options.
Don't let them take your life, liberty, or freedom away without a fight... and make sure they think twice before choosing to step into that fight.
