Today we ran our first ever mixed doubles tournament. We are extremely thankful for everyone that came out to bowl, but the ladies deserve a little extra love. It’s hard to find a weekend that works for all of the talented women in the southeast. So those that chose to bowl with us over the other great events that are happening, thank you.
We had another first happen today with a tie for first place in qualifying. When I wrote the rules for this series several years ago it was prior to having doubles tournaments on the schedule. As the rule is written, the bowler(team in this instance) with the highest game during qualifying is the tie breaker for position. With that, Brandon Rock and Courtney Jacques locked up the number 1 seed over Michael James Patterson and Annalise OBryant.
In the first round of match play Michael and Annalise squeaked out Bryant Griffith and Samantha Smolen by 14 pins in the two game total pin fall match.
In the finals, Michael and Annalise ultimately ran away with the match to earn the win.
This was Michael’s third win in three tries this season. It was Annalise’s first win with the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series.
Next month we are on to the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series #4 (Open Doubles) at Southern Lanes. No doubt that this will be the largest tournament of the season. If you’d like a spot, let us know so we can add you to our list.
As always, thank you to Critical Roll Bowling Supply for being the best support for this tournament series. If you find yourself in need of a new ball, new fit, or any bowling accessories, be sure to visit their shop in Buford.
