Tell me why you think you should be aiming at the flag again....scratch golfers from around 100 yds are 30+ feet away on average. No wonder you can't break 90.

The Stat: Between 75-125 yards, a Scratch golfer will hit it to 39 feet from the pin, on average, whereas a 15 HCP will hit it to 60 feet. However, from 175-225 yards out, a Scratch golfer will hit it to 82 feet from the pin, whereas a 15 HCP will hit it to 166 feet.

The Takeaway: Just about any time a sub-10 Handicap is able to pull out a wedge for their approach shot, they expect the next shot to be a tap-in for birdie. Well, the data says otherwise. It should be re-assuring for all higher Handicap golfers to know that the typical Scratch golfer hits their approach shots to roughly ~39 feet from 75-125 yards.

That said, there’s a noticeable difference as approach shot distances move further away from the hole. Lower handicap golfers are decidedly better when hitting approach shots outside of 175 from the hole, in some cases getting their approach shots 2-3x closer to the hole.

Why Hitting Your Driver Wrong Can Help You Hit It Right 🎯 Read More…

This might sound crazy, but hear me out: hitting the center of the driver face is one of the most important skills in golf. When we miss the middle, we deal with wild curves, lost distance, and inconsistent results. So, how do we train to strike the sweet spot more often? By intentionally missing it.

Here’s the drill:
• Grab some dry shampoo, athlete’s foot spray, or impact tape.
• Spray your driver face and draw a line down the center.
• Take three golf balls:
1️⃣ On the first shot, intentionally hit the toe.
2️⃣ On the second, intentionally hit the heel.
3️⃣ On the third, aim for the center between them.

At first, you might not be very good at this, and that’s okay. Keep practicing until you can move your strike location around the face on purpose.

Why does this work? By learning what toe and heel strikes feel like, you’ll naturally get better at finding the center. Plus, this drill helps you understand how strike location affects ball flight, giving you instant feedback on the course.

This isn’t about technique—it’s about developing skill, coordination, and athletic awareness. Give it a try and watch your driving improve! 🏌️‍♂️
