After a loss, it's natural to want to start cleaning up immediately. However, preserving evidence is one of the most important steps in protecting your insurance claim.

Damaged flooring, drywall, roofing materials, and contents can all provide valuable information during the investigation process.

Remember: What's gone can't be inspected.

If you're facing property damage and have questions about documentation or mitigation, our team is here to help.

What you do in the first 24-48 hours can have a huge impact on your insurance claim.

Before accepting a settlement, make sure your damages are properly documented and evaluated.

A single word in an insurance policy can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

After a tornado damaged a Texas home, the question became whether that tornado qualified as a “windstorm” under the policy. The Texas Supreme Court said yes, allowing an insurer to apply a higher 2% windstorm deductible to a claim.

The lesson for policyholders? Read the fine print. The definitions in your policy matter. When policies leave room for interpretation, courts may not see it the way you do.

Attorneys Larry Bache and William 'Trey' Flournoy wrote about tornado windstorm rulings in recent posts on the Property Insurance Coverage Law Blog. Read more by visiting our website.

Many policyholders don’t realize they have options when filing an insurance claim. In fact, studies suggest that approximately 96% of insurance claims are handled without professional representation, such as an attorney or public adjuster.

Insurance policies can be complex contracts, and navigating the claims process alone can sometimes result in settlements that don’t fully reflect the scope of the loss or the benefits available under the policy.

You don’t have to do it alone!
Working with a licensed public adjuster can help ensure a claim is properly documented, thoroughly evaluated, and that policyholders have a clear understanding of the coverage available to them.
