North Quabbin United Soccer – Weeks 6 & 7 Recap ⚽️
It's been a few weeks since our last recap, and what a few weeks it has been!
As we enter the final stretch of the spring season, the growth across the North Quabbin United program has been incredible to watch. From our youngest travel players earning their first victories to our older teams positioning themselves for playoff runs, every team continues to improve, compete hard, and represent our communities with pride.
The scoreboard doesn't always tell the full story. What stands out most is the effort, teamwork, resilience, and development we're seeing every week.
🌟 Girls Teams
Girls 3/4 (1-6)
This young group continues to work hard and improve each week. They fell to Littleton 6-1 in Week 6 and Bolton 7-2 in Week 7, but their positive attitude and determination continue to shine through. The future is bright for this group.
Girls 5/6 (1-4-1)
The 5/6 Girls have been locked into defensive battles over the past two weeks. They dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to Littleton before earning a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bolton. Their defensive play and goalkeeping have been outstanding. Once a few more shots start finding the back of the net, the results will follow.
Girls 7/PG (0-7)
This team continues to take on one of the toughest challenges in the league. With many players still in 7th and 8th grade competing against high school-aged opponents, they continue to gain valuable experience every match. Despite losses to Oakmont and Pepperell, their effort and growth have been impressive all season long.
⚽ Boys Teams
Boys 3/4 Red (1-5)
This young squad battled through some challenging weather conditions in Week 6 and continued to show the grit and determination that has defined their season. Their hard work paid off in Week 7 when they broke through for their first victory of the season, defeating Clinton 7-5 in an exciting back-and-forth match. Made up mostly of 2nd graders, this group has steadily improved every week, and it was great to see them rewarded with a well-earned win. The confidence gained from this victory should provide a big boost as they continue to develop.
Boys 3/4 White (2-4-1)
This group has really started to find its groove, going 2-0-1 over the last three weeks. They defeated Gardner 3-0 in Week 6 and battled Hudson to a 3-3 draw in Week 7. The confidence and chemistry continue to grow every week.
Boys 3/4 Black (5-2)
Playing in Division 1 against some of the strongest competition in Massachusetts, this team has proven they belong. They picked up victories over Leominster and Maynard during Weeks 6 and 7 and currently sit in 3rd place in the division. They'll look to finish an outstanding regular season strong next week against Hudson.
Boys 5/6 White (2-3)
Mother Nature wasn't on their side, as rain wiped out their Week 6 game. In Week 7, they battled Clinton but came up short 8-3. With many new players on the roster, this team continues to improve and gain valuable experience.
Boys 5/6 Black (1-6)
Another one of our Division 1 teams facing elite competition every week, the 5/6 Black squad earned a huge milestone—its first victory of the season! They defeated Groton-Dunstable 4-2 in a dominant performance. The improvement has been remarkable, especially considering they opened the season with a 7-2 loss against the same opponent. This team has continued to trust the process, and their growth is paying off.
Boys 7/8 (2-5)
The 7/8 Boys delivered one of the most exciting moments of the season in Week 6. Trailing Pepperell 3-2 in the second half, they scored two quick goals in dramatic fashion to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory. Despite being short-handed in Week 7 and falling to Berlin 2-0, they continued to compete hard from start to finish.
Boys 9/10 (5-2)
The HS Boys are making a strong push toward postseason play and potentially the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. They opened the weekend with a 3-3 abandoned match at halftime due to Leominster fans unruly behavior (end result TBD by NVYSL sportsmanship committee) before following it up with an exciting 4-3 victory over Groton-Dunstable. Sunday's match came down to the final play, with Groton-Dunstable missing a penalty kick as time expired. The team now enters its final regular season game against Oakmont with a chance to secure a spot in the NCUP Playoffs and continue its quest for an MTOC berth.
💙 Looking Ahead
As the season nears its conclusion, we're incredibly proud of every player, coach, and family involved in North Quabbin United Soccer. Whether it's teams battling in Division 1, young players learning the travel game for the first time, or older teams chasing playoff dreams, the common theme has been growth.
Keep working.
Keep learning.
Keep competing.
The future of NQU Soccer is bright. ⚽💙
