What a DAWG-gone good day at Summer Day Camp! 🐾❤️

Our campers had an unforgettable visit from Hairy Dawg and the UGA Cheerleaders today! From high-fives and smiles to photos and plenty of spirit, the excitement was contagious.

A huge thank you to Hairy Dawg and the cheerleaders for taking time to make our campers’ day so special. The memories made today will have us smiling all summer long! ☀️🎉

Our campers had the opportunity to tour Akins Ford Arena, learn about the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the arena running, and get the inside scoop on the Rock Lobsters. From exploring areas not usually seen by the public to learning about the many roles that make events possible, it was a fun and educational experience for everyone!

Today we're celebrating one of the most meaningful parts of the YWCO's story—friendship. 💙

For 120 years, friendships have been formed within these walls and through our programs. From summer camp buddies and swim lesson partners to fitness class friends and lifelong connections, the YWCO has always been about bringing people together.

The faces in these photos may span different generations, but the smiles tell the same story. Through every decade, friendships have grown here—built on encouragement, support, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging.

Today we’re taking a look back—and forward—as we compare Summer Day Camp memories from 2014 and 2026.

Twelve years may seem like a long time, but when we look at these photos, one thing stands out: while the faces, activities, and camp themes may have changed, the joy, friendships, laughter, and memories being made have remained the same.

For generations, the YWCO has provided a place where children can explore, learn, grow, and simply enjoy being kids. Summer Day Camp has been a part of countless childhood memories, and we’re proud to continue that tradition year after year.

As we celebrate 120 years of serving our community, we’re reminded that every camper, counselor, family, and staff member has helped shape our story. The children splashing in the pool, discovering new passions, making friends, and building confidence today are part of the same legacy that began over a century ago.

It's Throwback Friday, and today we're looking back at one of the many special moments that have been part of the YWCO's story through the years—our Kids Tri the Y Youth Triathlon! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

For generations, the YWCO has provided opportunities for young people to challenge themselves, build confidence, discover their strengths, and create lifelong memories. Events like the Kids Tri the Y Youth Triathlon are a reminder of the impact that happens when a community comes together to encourage and support its youth.

As we celebrate 120 years of service to Athens and the surrounding community, we are grateful for every child, family, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who has helped shape our legacy. What a wild and wonderful week at Summer Day Camp! 🦁🌿🐒

Our campers had an unforgettable adventure during Jungle Junction week, topped off with an exciting trip to Bear Hollow Zoo! From discovering amazing animals to making new friends and memories, this week was full of exploration, laughter, and fun.

We are so thankful for the experiences that help our campers learn, grow, and connect with the world around them. Jungle Junction was one for the books, and we can’t wait to see where our Passport to Summer takes us next! ✈️☀️ (hint: gold medals not required, but camp spirit definitely is 😉)

For 120 years, the YWCO has been a part of the fabric of our community, growing and evolving alongside the people we serve. From our early beginnings in 1906 to our years in the historic Stevens-Thomas House, and now as a thriving community center serving individuals and families across Athens, our drive has remained constant: creating opportunities, fostering connections, and empowering our community.

The walls may have changed, but the heart of the YWCO has always been the people. Generations of members, staff, volunteers, donors, and families have helped shape who we are today. Every class attended, every child served, every friendship formed, and every life touched has become part of our story.

As we count down to our 120th Birthday Celebration on June 20th, we invite you to reflect on the memories we've shared, celebrate the impact we've made together, and dream about what the future holds for the YWCO.

A huge thank you to Katie and Tina from Emerald & Obsidian for spending time with our campers and staff today! Their passion for reptile education shines through in everything they do, and they made learning about these incredible animals both fun and unforgettable!

We are so grateful for the knowledge, enthusiasm, and hands-on experiences they shared with our campers. Watching them ask questions, explore, and gain confidence while learning about reptiles was amazing!

Katie and Tina, thank you for inspiring curiosity, encouraging learning, and sharing your passion with all of us. We are so thankful for your visit and can’t wait to welcome you back for another amazing day of reptile adventures! 🐍✨
