Since 1999, Dolphin Dive Center has been sharing the adventure of scuba diving with the Athens, Georgia community — training divers, leading trips, and inspiring a lifelong love for the ocean and its marine inhabitants. Owner/Master Instructor Tim Bridgham opened DDC in 1999, and since then our main focus has been meeting our customer's scuba needs. We are fully committed to providing you with an

unforgettable and enjoyable experience. We offer diver training, equipment sales/rental/service, tanning, and group travel around the world. DDC is affiliated with Scuba Schools International (SSI), the most comprehensive program in Scuba today. Every time we slip beneath the surface, we’re reminded just how incredible our planet really is.

From vibrant reef systems to the quiet stillness of a freshwater spring, the underwater world has a way of shifting your perspective—and deepening your respect for the environment that makes it all possible.

As divers, we don’t just explore these spaces… we become stewards of them.

Today is a reminder that protecting our oceans, springs, and waterways isn’t just for one day—it’s something we carry with us on every dive, every trip, and every adventure.

More moments from our weekend at Vortex Spring, FL with the MARS 4740 Scientific Diving students 🤿

It was a fun, full weekend of checkout dives as students completed the final steps toward earning their Open Water certifications.

From gearing up on the dock to descending into the spring, these photos capture what the experience is really about — learning new skills, stepping outside your comfort zone, and supporting each other every step of the way.

There were challenges (including some limited visibility), but this group showed up with focus, teamwork, and a great attitude — and that’s what makes all the difference.

Weekends like this are where everything comes together. The training clicks, the confidence builds, and the experience becomes something students will carry with them long after the dives are done.

Proud of this crew and everything they accomplished. 🙌

Not every certification weekend comes with clear water… and that’s exactly what made this one count.

Big congratulations to our newest certified scuba divers from the UGA MARS 4740 Scientific Diving class!!!! 🎉🤿

This weekend at Vortex Spring was one to remember. Between the excitement, the challenges, and yes — some low visibility conditions — these students showed up, stayed focused, and got it done.

Checkout dives are a milestone for every diver, and this group handled it with determination, teamwork, and a whole lot of positive attitude.

What makes MARS 4740 unique is the opportunity for students to step outside the traditional classroom and truly dive into what they’re learning. This weekend, the “classroom” was below the surface, with students applying skills in real time and adapting to real-world conditions.

The students spent a full weekend in Florida working through new challenges together, supporting one another, and building real confidence in a completely new environment.

By the end of the weekend, it wasn’t just certifications earned…
it was friendships built and a group of students who now share something they’ll never forget.

We had an absolute blast with this crew. 👏
