Then comes the pause, while the other person tries to figure out...

Coach Grant Lange
Grant Lange has coached volleyball since 1997. Twenty-nine years and counting, at the high school, club, and collegiate levels, developing everyone from first-time players to national-level competitors. He holds NFHS Level 2, USAV CAP 2, and BCAP 1 coaching certifications, and is SafeSport and IMPACT certified.
His coaching has spanned head coach and club director roles at Louisiana Volleyball, head and master coach positions with XSV Volleyball in Chattanooga, high school varsity coaching, and prospect camp instruction for programs including Emory University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He co-founded Delta Athletics with his wife, Ashley (Cook) Lange, an All-SEC player at the University of Georgia. As Delta’s Master Coach, he sets the training philosophy across every program and mentors the coaching staff. He brings particular depth to developing boys and the men’s game, a pathway he knows from the inside: how a dominating team is built, and what separates a regional club player from a national one.
His own playing career has never really stopped. Grant has competed for 36 years and still plays today, as a middle, outside, and right-side hitter. He finished 3rd nationally with the University of Illinois Men’s Club and 5th nationally as a player-coach at Western Washington University. As an adult he won multiple regional championships, earned a regional MVP, and placed 5th at USAV Men’s Open Nationals, the highest adult division in the sport. He has gone on to win national and international titles, including gold at an international championship in Sydney in 2002 and gold in the 50+ division at the 2025 Huntsman World Championship, more than three decades into the game.
That experience shapes a coaching philosophy that stays fixed on the athlete rather than the scoreboard:

“It’s not about the win. It’s about the why. If you know the why, the wins come on their own.”

It’s how Grant develops players at Delta, one decision and one skill at a time.

The first question Coach Grant asks isn’t how high they jump. It’s why they showed up.
