Dave Meltzer on Mercedes Mone following her AEW Women’s World Championship win:

“She is the first person ever to hold the WWE, the CMLL, New Japan IWGP and Strong, and now AEW championships …. she’s the first woman who will ever have competed at the Tokyo Dome, which very few women wrestlers have been in the Tokyo Dome, that’s the hardest one for the women wrestlers, competed in Madison Square Garden, competed at Wembley, and competed at Arena Mexico. So that’s two big major resume points for her going into (Observer) Hall of Fame consideration.”

“No American woman has been voted in, I think, since we’ve had voting. Japanese women have been voted in, but no American women … Mercedes, probably, is the best overall worker of American women wrestlers ever. I couldn’t come up with anybody else as the best.”

On this day in 1995, WCW Monday Nitro debuted live from the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Raw was pre-empted that week for the US Open, so the first Nitro aired unopposed, and the head-to-head Monday Night War didn’t start until the following week.

Brian Pillman beat Jushin “Thunder” Liger in the first match in Nitro history. Lex Luger walked out unannounced during Sting vs. Ric Flair, one night after working a WWF house show in New Brunswick, Canada, and confronted Hulk Hogan after the main event. Hogan beat Big Bubba Rogers to retain the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan and Steve McMichael called the show from ringside.

Sofia Sivan has a message for ⚜️Ashley D’Amboise⚜️ ahead of their match at Coastal Championship Wrestling Bash at the Brew 68 this Saturday, September 5, at The Tank Brewing Company in Miami.

In a video posted to her socials, Sivan said D’Amboise used to be at the top of CCW but has been gone a long time, and that she has since beaten all of D’Amboise’s old high scores and become the new player at CCW. Sivan said she welcomes the challenge, adding, “You know second place is still kind of good, right?”

CCW says D’Amboise “comes ready for a fight” while Sivan brings attitude, confidence and unpredictability, and that “Only ONE of them gets to leave Miami with the victory.”

Ric Flair doesn't want his take on Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay lumped in with Eric Bischoff's. In a follow-up on X, Flair said he thoroughly enjoyed the All In: London main event and that his tweet comparing it to his matches with Ricky Steamboat was just an opinion, adding, "Doesn't Mean It's Right, Doesn't Mean It's Wrong."

Bischoff panned the match on a live 83 Weeks after the show, saying "it was like watching a Nasty Boys match" and calling it hardcore and slow-paced with a referee who might as well not have been there.

Flair also took shots at Bischoff and Jim Ross for bringing up his name, saying Bischoff "Should Just Focus On His New Amateur Wrestling Project" and that the same applies to Ross. "If You Mention My Name, Of Course I Am Going To Respond."

AEW is dedicating next week’s Dynamite to Rebel.

AEW will present AEW: Rebel Heart Dynamite on Wednesday, September 9, live from Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia. The night is dedicated to raising ALS awareness in honor of Tanea Brooks (Rebel) and a donation from the event will benefit I AM ALS and Team Gleason, two organizations in the fight against ALS.

Bayley is expected to remain with WWE and return within the next few weeks, per PWInsider, with creative pitches in place for the Raw brand. She has been off TV since the Lyra Valkyria write-off on July 18, with her contract reportedly up this year.

The white longhorn limousine associated with WWE Hall of Famer JBL is up for sale. A 1997 Lincoln Town Car limo with horns mounted on the hood has been listed on Facebook Marketplace in Victorville, California for $6,000. Earlier listing photos showed the JBL logo on the door, which has been replaced in photos updated since the initial post.

JBL arrived to the ring in a white longhorn limousine throughout his run as WWE Champion in 2004 and 2005. The listing, posted three days ago, shows 204,000 miles and one owner, and the photos show the black leather interior and bar area still intact. “Everything works,” the seller says, adding that the front and rear air conditioning was recently serviced.
