Going through some saved insights on fitness, I came across this, from one of the most influential fitness and nutrition experts of the 20th century - Jack LaLanne:
Physical fitness takes commitment to exercise just as it requires good nutrition. But it doesn't have to be painful. Just the opposite: Vigorous exercise actually is stimulating. It boosts your energy levels, invigorates your mind, and just feels good afterward. The hardest part, of course, is getting started.
Food for thought, words to live by; as relevant now as they were years ago.

A rising trend in exercise is Dance-based fitness, which is very good news. Aerobic dance is full of benefits, and I’ve always been a fan.
One special feature of dance fitness is its fabulous value for older adults. Think ‘Silver Sneakers’, a format that is considered so healthful that many insurance companies cover it.
While Zumba® remains popular, there are many other forms of dance exercise which exist in a continuum from cardio-focused to movement or choreography focused. Cardio focused classes emphasize the workout itself, while movement focused classes provide greater cognitive enhancement.
Whatever the case, it’s all good!
Taking part in dance motivated group exercise improves agility, balance, flexibility and endurance; emotionally it combines social interaction in a creative activity, with synchronized music to raise the mood.
Aerobic dance is good for everybody, and I’d like to repeat its value for seniors. With movements that are easy to follow and safe, classes can provide many health benefits, including elevated mood and social connection.
