The Athens Teams went back to work today.

3/4th Girls put on an offensive clinic against Quincy-Black. Getting back in the win column with a 24-4 onslaught that never let up.

5/6th Girls set themselves up for a deep run in next week’s tournament showing off their defensive chops with a 31-4 victory over Jonesville.

3/4th Boys battled an incredibly tough St Charles team, but came up short 2-22.

5/6th Boys dropped a heart breaker by just 5 points. They’ll look to put it all together next week.

Next week is the year end tournament! Excited to see our support teams show up to cheer on your favorite player/team!

Athens youth basketball took to the court once more today to test themselves against their area counterparts.

First up was the 3/4 Girls facing 2 strong teams today in Quincy Orange and Bronson. The girls came out strong and took game one, but the back-to-back games proved too much to overcome and dropped game 2 to Bronson. They are now 3-1 on the season and will face Quincy-4 next week.

The 5/6th grade girls got all they could handle in the Union City 6 Girls. Ultimately hanging on to their early lead to take the win. At 3-0 for the season, they’ll look to take their winning streak to Quincy’s 6th grade team next week.

The 3/4th Grade Boys played their hearts out for 2 games today, but couldn’t come up with the win.

The 5th Grade Boys left it all on the court with just 5 players, but just couldn’t overcome the Union City 6 Team.

Sorry, no photos from the boys’ games. Photographer went to the woods. Feel free to post any you have.

This week’s recap:

Athens 3/4 Girls squared up against the Ladies of Tekonsha. A whole team effort netted a final score of 24-4.
2-0 on the year. Next week we’ll tipping off in a doubleheader against Quincy Orange and Bronson

The Athens 5/6 Girls tested their mettle against Quincy. Running a solid offense and strong defense taking the W 24-4.
2-0 for these ladies as well. Next week facing off against UC-6 will really test the team.

The 3/4 boys never gave up in their games against the Quincy 4th Grade and the Bobcats of Burr Oak. Ultimately falling in both contests.
Next week they’ll look to improve on their 1-2 record against T-white (whoever that is).

Unfortunately the 5th grade boys weren’t able to field a team this week and ultimately forfeit against Quincy 6th. They’ll look to take their first W of the year next week against Quincy 5 with a follow up game against UC-6.

Athens Youth Basketball started the morning off right.

The 3/4 Girls got the win vs a strong Bronson team. Great team play and timely shooting were key factors.

Next up was the 5/6 Girls also getting a big W against the tough and scrappy Climax-Scott’s team. Great defense and strong shooting are the foundations of this team.

This afternoon features the boys’ teams! Let’s go Purple!
