Goal: 20 miles at 20 weeks ✅

I’ve been very fortunate to stay active throughout all of my pregnancies. During my first two, I ran two half marathons before the 20-week mark. This time I wondered… what if I ran 20 miles at 20 weeks? That would be neat.

Intimidated by the idea, I started training after the first of the year to see where it would take me.

There was no race, no sidelines, no one handing me snacks or water. Just me and my little one, running around our little town in Kansas. Talk about a mental game.

Long-distance running is a personal mind war. Your legs keep moving, but your mind is constantly negotiating with discomfort, fatigue, and doubt. It may not be for everyone, but there is real value in doing hard things that require endurance and sustained effort. To me, it’s one of the closest metaphors to the journey of life. Some days will drain you. You feel like you’re getting hit by waves after wave and can’t catch a breath. Some moments make you question the point of it all.

That’s where grit shows up.

This is when you keep going anyway. You do it for yourself, your partner, your kids, your loved ones, your animals. You do it because resilience is the only option.

Pick a goal. A hard one. You will feel a sense of pride that will shape a better version of yourself-for you and perhaps your family. The determination, resilience, and courage that you develop might just inspire others.

Chasing goals can be addictive… so make sure you choose the right ones.

“The amount of good things in your life depends on your ability to notice them.”

One year ago today, we started a first generation farm and ranch. Far from easy, but nothing great ever is! Couldn’t pursue this dream without all of our friends and family support; beyond thankful for Braden’s farming buddies who have helped us tremendously.

Cheers to another year of learning and development! Happy anniversary to the DBR.🤘🏻

She shares all sorts of data on this podcast, debunking many myths of training, nutrition, and supplementation. Especially the hot topics of social media these days, including:
-types of exercise training, and how training requirements for muscle adaptation does not change based on s*x
-fasting versus non-fasting
-protein requirements for women
-hormone changes and menstrual cycle affects on training (or lack there of)
-the infamous “cortisol”

The basis of FFE: to be fit for anything you want to do!

Hiking up to 13,000 ft into the mountains with a 25lb kid and a backpack was tough, but thanks to a solid foundation of fitness I was able to do this. THIS is Fit For Everything.

“Want to run a 5k with me in a month?”

“Want to hike a 14er?”

“Can you help with farm work this weekend?”

“Mom can you carry me?” (All the time)

Whether it’s chasing your kids around at home or hiking a mountain, show up every day so you CAN!!

9 months carrying you, and 9 months of watching you grow into your little personality. What a blessing it has been. You are so special, my son. 💛
On another note, these photos are a gentle reminder of how blessed we are to have had a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby boy. Exercise, healthy diet, and tons of social support are all the foundation. 🙏🏻 Set yourself, mama, up to be fit for any challenge that comes your way.
