I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Hall of Fame Installation for 2024 of the Nassau County, NY (Section VIII) High School Athletic Hall of Fame last night. Among those entering the Hall of Fame was my good friend, Victor Randazzo of Long Beach High School in Nassau County Victor was a standout and Champion on Rings and Rope Climb. That's right, Rope Climb! an event in high school gymnastics back in the day. Veek was also a 5x Champion on Rings in New York's Empire State Games, and went on to be a National Champion in Men's Gymnastics at Southern Connecticut State University, coached by Abe Grossfeld. Even after graduating, Vic helped so many of us in gymnastics by hosting clinics, bringing in clinicians other times to various high schools, including New York City Programs, In the years during which Victor was active with this, he secured top notch national champion and Olympic champions to clinics and events like our Big Apple Games culminating activity at the Felt Forum of the Garden in 1984, in which he had arranged for us to have Tim Daggett only about three days after he won his Gold Medal on pommels.
Victor's participation in Gymnastics, both in Nassau County, in New York City, in New Haven CT, and elsewhere elevated the sport, attracted and excited the youth that came to those events, and helped build the sport greatly. Congratulations to Victor Randazzo and a large thank you to the Nassau County High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Feeling Happy! As our 13th Annual Long Island City HS Gymnastics Team and Friends Reunion concludes. With a super turnout stretching back to team members from 1979 in our initial building, to members of this year's boys team and girls team, as well as friends and guests some older than our gymnasts and down to the youngest at 2 weeks old! This year we added a Google Meet session also, in order to have team members living too far to travel in for the day join us. We had team members from California and from Georgia able to be a part of it. Lunch was catered in from L&M Deli, on 31st Ave off 36th Street (their web: lmitaliandelicatering.com)
