This was a recent testimony from our very own Katy Johnson, her message is extremely powerful that we had to share it with all of you!!
First pic is me years ago when I just wanted to be “small” by doing copious amounts of cardio, restricting, and hating myself. Second pic is me … well… occupying my space 😏😎😍 proudly)
I was a 90s kid so grew up with being obsessed with being skinny, even though at my smallest (a-hem…self-abused into submission😔), my body was screaming to be so much more.
Today, a couple of us girls were talking about not fitting into last summers clothes because 🍑 💪
Seeing the size go up on our clothing can feel like a failure after we’ve been societally trained to take up as least space as possible.
Sometimes when I am lifting a huge weight, I tongue in cheek will say, “I’d lift weights but I just don’t wanna get too bulky.”
Thanks to this place, thanks to you ladies (and a few gents), I have embraced my strength as a STRENGTH. And with that, yes, comes weighing more, being in bigger clothes. But I’m lighter without the weight of the opinion that a number is my identity.
I focus on my wins: the way I’m feeling, the way I’m performing, the fun I’m having.
I love being surrounded by all you strong women. We are writing a new story for ourselves and those we encounter.
Self punishment is not the goal.
Skinny is not the goal.
Longevity is the goal.
Community is the goal.
Fun is the goal.
Strong af is the goal.
Sun’s out guns out, ladies.
However your form is this season,
Take up space.
You are worthy of it!
