We are excited and happy to reveal the 2023-24 SOU Head Cheer & Dance Coach. I know you all have been waiting in anticipation to meet who will replace our long time previous Head Coach Jasmine Dalton.
Before we make the announcement of our new coach, we want to acknowledge Jasmine and her integral part in the success of our Cheer & Dance Teams over the last 6 years. Prior to coaching SOU, she was a cheerleader for the SOU Raiders. Over the last 6 years Jasmine has put in numerous hours to building these two teams and creating a legacy that will continue throughout the years. SOU Athletics appreciates all the hard work Jasmine put into these teams over the last 6 years. She will be greatly missed. As she embarks on her new venture, SOU Athletics with the SOU Cheer & Dance Teams wish her all the best! Thank you Jasmine for your tenure with SOU!
And without further ado....please help us to welcome our new 2023-24 Head Cheer & Dance Coach, Tyler Myerly. We couldn't be more excited to bring on the talent and experience that Tyler has with Cheer & Dance. If you recognize her, you have probably seen her most recently on KTVL News 10.
Here is a short bio about our new head coach so you can get to know a little more about her and her background:
After three years in the public eye and on sidelines across Southern Oregon, Tyler Myerly joins the Raiders on the sidelines in a different capacity as the new Head Coach for Cheer and Dance.
Myerly most recently was the News and Sports Anchor at KTVL News 10 from 2020 to 2023. She currently works with Medford School District as the Public Relations and Communications Manager and will use her vast experience in the cheer and dance world to lead the SOU Raider Cheer & Dance Teams.
Myerly, 28, brings a wide variety of experience and professionalism to this role. She served as the Head Coach for the Song and Dance Team at Corona Centennial High School (Calif.) from 2017-2019 where she choreographed and coached a National Championship routine.
Myerly also danced professionally for three seasons with the San Diego and Los Angeles Chargers organization from 2015-2018. During her experience with the Charger Girls, Myerly was able to dance in front of more than 70,000 fans at every home game, including prime time games.
Myerly hopes to boost the program in a way that showcases the teams' athletic performance, health and overall wellness, artistic creativity and highest representation of the Southern Oregon University community.
Welcome to SOU Raider Athletics Coach Tyler! We all look forward to this upcoming season with you leading our teams!
