Catrina Crisp combines the experience of an elite Hall of Fame athlete with a coaching style centered on developing confident, resilient young women. A standout two-way player at Queens University of Charlotte, she excelled both in the circle and at third base, earning All-Conference, All-Tournament, and All-Region honors. At the time of her graduation, she held 11 school records and was later inducted into the Queens University Athletic Hall of Fame as the first fastpitch softball player ever selected. During her collegiate career, she ranked fourth nationally in NCAA Division II in strikeouts per seven innings while also batting nearly .400, demonstrating the rare ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball. She was also recognized as an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete for her success in the classroom and on the field. [queensathletics.com], [Catrina Cr...ember 2025 | Word]
Drawing from her own experiences competing at a high level, Catrina is passionate about helping athletes understand not only what they are doing, but why they are doing it. She actively involves players in the learning process, teaching the strategic purpose behind drills, situations, and game decisions so they can become smart, independent competitors who thrive under pressure.
Having spent years coaching softball at the recreational, select, middle school, and national travel levels, she understands that growth is rarely linear. Mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn rather than reasons for criticism, creating an environment where athletes develop confidence, accountability, and mental toughness. Her players learn how to respond to adversity, trust their preparation, and continue competing with purpose regardless of the outcome. [Catrina Cr...ember 2025 | Word], [Softball notes | Outlook]
Catrina's coaching philosophy is built on teamwork, communication, and selflessness. She emphasizes doing what is best for the team, holding players to high standards while fostering a culture where athletes support one another and take pride in collective success. By modeling integrity, hard work, and genuine care for her players, she helps build teams that are connected, resilient, and competitive.
Above all, Catrina believes softball is a vehicle for teaching life lessons. While she loves competition and pursuing excellence, her greatest goal is to help young women develop confidence, leadership, character, and resilience that will serve them long after their playing careers end.
Coach Christian has coached a combination of rec and travel ball as an assistant and head coach for a little over a decade. He a student and lover of the game, and believes in helping and pushing young players to be the best players they can be by teaching fundamentals that do not not interfere with any offensive or defensive mechanics any player learns or has learned from parents, school-ball coaches, or private instructors. In fact, he is a huge proponent of players practicing and training hard outside of team practices. As part of the Lady Dukes Ohio Premier coaching staff, he not only brings his softball knowledge and experience to practices and games, but he also strongly encourages our athletes to train hard outside of team practices to develop the skills needed to be successful in live games. Above all, he strives to make learning and playing softball as enjoyable and fun as possible. For this reason, he puts as much emphasis on how he treats the players as he does in what he teaches the players. He has learned that coaches can get more out of a player the more the player enjoys the game.
