During our week in Muju at the TaekwondoWon we got the opportunity to go up to an observation deck and see the beautiful mountainous area around us. The views were incredible. Afterwards we walked down and saw some beautiful temples and this super cool and beautiful training park made especially for taekwondo.

We spent the first part of our trip training at the TaekwondoWon campus in Muju South Korea. We were there for a symposium in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Chang Moo Kwan tournament. We were joined by Taekwondo groups from all over the world.

As a part of our Korea trip, we went to the DMZ, the demilitarized zone. It was pretty incredible. We don't have many pictures because you weren't allowed to take pictures of almost anything, especially nothing towards the North Korean side. We were able to look over into North Korea with binoculars and in a large viewing auditorium with giant windows. You could see into villages close to the border, though no one was out and about because it was so hot that day.We were shown a very powerful video on the history of the war and told about the tunnels North Korea dung secretly. We were given the opportunity to go down into one of the tunnels that was discovered. Interestingly, because no one is allowed in the DMZ, it has become a wildlife refuge. You can tell the exact line it becomes North Korea because they have deforested their side. Whereas South Korea has left all the trees.

Who's excited for Taekwondo to start again?! 🙋 Classes will start again Thursday September 3.
6:00-6:45 for the kids, 7:00-8:00 for the adults/teens. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday. We will be at our new location in the former campus of Northland College in the old art building, there's a link in the comments. We are very excited about this move that happened this spring, it's enabled us to lower our monthly dues per student so that Taekwondo is more accessible for everyone.
Please come and help us break in the new gym!

Info about upcoming tykes classes on Saturdays will be posted soon.
