⚾️ Young Merchants Look Crisp, Beat Superior 7-3 on a Beautiful Friday Night at the Ballpark!

Pitchers Nolan Hecimovich, Eli Wickman, and John Sundberg combined to 2 hit the 17U Blues. They also combined to strike out 8 hitters.

At the plate the Merchants had 8 hits. Ethan Schutte was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Eli Wickman also had 2 singles in 4 at bats.

Other Merchants logging hits were Lewis Ellefson, Huston King, Colin Fiamoncini, and Nolan Hecimovich.

The talent on the field last night was incredible, but there was magic beyond the dugout. The crowd was filled with youth players cheering on the Merchants, playing catch with friends, and dreaming of the summer nights when they’ll wear that same uniform. That is what community baseball is all about!

Next up for the Merchants is a Sunday 1:30 home game against last years Upper 13 champion Glidden Orioles.

Merchant triple play 5 years back. A classic, basically routine Matthew Tarasewicz to Earl Kraft to Bobby Tyndall to Joseph Seeger, and back to Bobby to complete a triple play in the Wisconsin Baseball Association playoffs. Any scoring gurus out there that know the correct way to score this?

⚾️ MERCHANT HOME OPENER RECAP ⚾️

The Merchants pulled away from Tigers, winning 18-6 on Sunday. It was an 8-6 ball game until Ashland put up 9 runs in the 5th inning, and 1 more in the 6th to secure the 12 run win.

It was a 13 hit attack by Ashland, with 4 players, Bebeau, Teschendorf, Hakamaki, and Kaseno each getting 2 hits apiece. T. King and Teschendorf lead the team in RBI's with 4 and 3, respectively.

Kevin Bebeau pitched 6 innings, getting his 2nd win of the season, while Bobby Tyndal closed it out with a scoreless, 3 up, 3 down 7th inning.

Next up for Ashland is a June 5th, Friday night home exhibition with the Superior Blues, coached by former Merchant and Northland College standout, Joey Norton. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Pufall field.

The Merchants are also home Sunday, June 7th @ 1:30pm, where they will get another crack at knocking off the defending Upper 13 Champion Glidden Orioles.

Merchants bats quiet, suffer first loss in Glidden 6-3.

It was an odd pitchers dual where both teams combined for 23 strikeouts and 18 walks. 3 Oriole pitchers co-pitched to hold the Merchants to 1 hit on the day. Tommy Teschendorf had the lone hit, a double just outside the left fielders reach. 11 baserunners were stranded for Ashland.

Trevor Fiamoncini scattered 8 hits across 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 9, while walking 7. Brayden Connors pitched a scoreless 8th.

Next game for Ashland is their home opener Sunday against Grand View. First pitch 1:30 pm.

Merchants Defeat Sea Dogs 5-4 on Opening Day in Hermantown!

Kevin Bebeau delivered a stellar 8-Inning performance, Eric Hakamaki gets the save with a flawless 9th Inning. Eli Wickman and Tommy Teschendorf pace Merchants' offense with 2 Hits each.

Tomorrow, the Merchants head to Glidden for a Memorial Day showdown with Orioles. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
