Happy Trailz Running

Every year, the USA Track & Field (USATF) association provides an opportunity for gold, silver and bronze awards for “Masters” runners (those over 40) who complete a certain number of races. You accumulate points for each race finish and the race course must be USATF certified. Our very own Coach Graig Skartvedt of Happy Trailz Running has reached the “Bronze” level USATF Phidippides Award for 2025.

P.S. A little history (taken from the USATF website) about Phidippides – He was a Greek man who “ran to Sparta when Athenians were threatened by Persians landing at Marathon. The trip was 150 miles which he ran in 2 days. He then fought a battle with the rest of the Athenians routing the Persians. The Persians retreated to their ships and set sail for Athens, which caused the Athenians to send Phidippides from the battlefield shores at Marathon to Athens, a distance of 26 miles” (the modern marathon!). So there you go, now you know.

As we wrap up 2025 a BIG CONGRATS out to HTR athlete Myhanh Che of Omaha, NE. Myhanh finished her 5th marathon at the 2025 Des Moines Marathon with a huge PR by 20min and just a week later finished the Yippee-Ki-Yay 50K, to become a first time Ultra Marathoner! We are looking forward to helping her and other athletes upcoming in 2026!

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 to each of you and we are grateful for all of you that came out this morning for the 2025 Ashland Turkey Trot which was our largest turnout in our 7 years of hosting! Your generosity also broke our records in food donated towards the Ashland Kids cupboard food program! 💙

Ashland Turkey Trot, We’ve had some great moments, some great costumes and so much fun over the years. We are thankful for your generosity over the years. No fees but we ask that you bring 2 can goods (but we will take more). Ill collected items will be donated to the Ashland Kids Cupboard food pantry.
