Mt. Ashland Ski Area

Mt. Ashland Ski Area Southern Oregon's Mountain Playground. Located just 8 miles from I-5 near the OR/CA border. Mt. Five lifts provide access to 44 ski trails plus open bowl skiing.
(1857)

Ashland's summit elevation of 7,533 feet gives the ski area a vertical drop of 1,150 vertical feet with 240 acres of varied skiing and riding terrain. Forty acres of trails are lit for night skiing. A Cascadia-style mountain lodge provides food service, bar/lounge, ski school, retail and ticket sales. Ski and snowboard rentals are available. Local skiing enthusiasts built the Lodge, Ariel chair, a

nd a T-bar and rope tow in 1963 through a grassroots effort. The Southern Oregon State College Foundation managed the ski area in the mid 70's. Local businessman Dick Hicks purchased the ski area in 1977 and raised funds to build the Windsor chair lift in 1978. The ski area was sold to Harbor Properties of Seattle in 1983 and night lighting, vehicle shop and Sonnet and Comer chair lifts were installed. In 1991 the ski area came under community ownership made possible by donor-restricted contributions and a grant from the Oregon Economic Development fund.

‼️Summer Mountain Closure in Effect Beginning Monday, June 8th!

Beginning Monday, June 8th, the entire front side of the mountain will be closed for a week as we undergo some heavier maintenance. For your safety, this includes the Summit Trail that will be closed along with Doug’s Way (Formerly Aisle 2) access to our base area. Aisle One to Bull Gap Road will remain open for mountain bikers to reach Mt. A Line. Our Nature Trail, Sonnet and area surrounding the Karen & Sid DeBoer Lodge will remain open to foot traffic.

Please adhere to all posted signage for the closure and do not attempt to access the front side of our Mountain from the top of Ariel or Lower Juliet.
We thank you so much for your patience and understanding and we will share an update when the front side is back open again.

The Mt. Ashland Team sends their gratitude!🫶🏼

A moment for this adorable snapshot of true camaraderie 💕

Our Mountain is more than just a Ski Area. It’s a community and a way for so many of us to connect and together, find joy in the great outdoors.

We hope to see these 3 (and all of you) on the Mountain next season. We are halfway through our Spring 26/27 Season Pass Sale where you can save big when you purchase before May 31st!

Your pass is more than unlimited days on the Mountain. It holds the power to help shape the next generation of skiers and rider and supports a nonprofit that reinvests every dollar back into the Mountain to ensure the long-term sustainability of outdoor recreation in Southern Oregon.

Long story short:
We can’t do it without you. 🫶🏼

03/13/2026

The time has come for Mt. Ashland Ski Area to officially announce that we are closed for the 25/26 winter season. 🥺😔💔

Thank you to our mountain community for all of your support this season. To our guests, locals and visitors alike, and our staff for bringing the stoke, for rolling with 3 reopenings - we can’t do this year after year without you. 🏔️💕

We also want to express our gratitude to our Partners, Donors and Sponsors for doing whatever you could to support us despite the challenging winter.

Our staff did the absolute most with the least this season and our appreciation for all of you knows no bounds. You stuck around through the toughest of times and we are forever grateful. We love you all and we will miss you so much! 😔🫶🏼

Even with the record-low snowfall and unseasonably high temperature, the Mountain was able to open for 17 operating days and 7 twilight nights and we are grateful for the powder days, sunshine turns and our incredible staff who pulled it all off.

We did not meet our 50 day guarantee for our Season Passholders. There will be a 33% discount available for returning unlimited Season Passholders during our Spring Season Pass sale and a 24% discount available for returning Twilight passholders during our Spring Season Pass sale.

For all of those who rented a locker for the 25/26 winter season, the Locker Lodge will be open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm through the end of March to clean out your lockers.

We hope to see you all at Bavarian Night this Saturday and keep an eye on our events calendar for more information about what’s happening in the off-season!

We’ll see you on the Mountain so soon!🏔️
