On August 22nd & 23rd, Brookside Golf Course held its annual Club Championship tournament.
This is the 55th consecutive year for the Men’s event.
The Championship is played over a two day period, with 18 holes played each day.
The Women’s Championship is a one day, eighteen hole, event.
The weather was sunny and warm both days and the Golf Course in good condition for our annual
Championship event.
In the Men’s Scratch Division, Evan Dennison claimed the title of “2026 Club Champion” for his second
win in as many years, with scores of 84 & 80 for a two day total of 164. Jack Yonkovski posted rounds of 82 & 84 for a total of 166 as the Runner-Up in the Scratch Division.
In the Men’s Handicap Division, Jason Briggs claimed first place with net scores of 79 & 77 for a two day total of 156. Dan Raudebaugh was right on Jason’s heels as he shot scores net of 80 & 77, to become Runner Up.
In the Men’s Senior Handicap Division Ray Smythe emerged victorious to become our 2026 Senior Handicap Champion. Ray carded net scores of 83 & 84 for a two day total of 168.
Mike Dorr and Brian Westfall tied for second place in this Division with 83 & 86 for a two day total of 169, and Mike won the Score Card play-off to become our 2026 Runner-Up.
The Women’s Championship is a one day, 18 hole tournament.
All of the participants competed in the Women’s Handicap Division.
Cathy Staniford posted a net score of 71 to become our 2026 Champion.
Erin Collins, our 2025 Champion, was Runner-Up with a net score of 84.
Congratulations to all of our 2026 Champions and a BIG “Thank You” to all that competed.

Though many of our Leagues are wrapping up for the season, there is still a lot of golf left to play in 2026.

The Fall, in Ohio, often provides for some of the best golf of the year. Autumn also brings its unique Course Maintenance requirements. Aeration and Leaf Control are chief among these.

Leaf Control will be an ongoing activity for us throughout the Fall season. Aeration will be a "one time" fall event.

Weather permitting, we will begin our Fall Aeration program on September 28th. The plan is to close the Front Nine for Greens Aeration on Monday, September 28th. Upon completion, we will then close the Back Nine for probably one day to do the Greens Aeration there. We will only have one side at a time closed, with each side hopefully being closed for only 1 day.

After the Aeration of the Greens is completed, we will move into the aeration of the Tee Boxes and Fairways. We can keep the course open while we do the Tees & Fairways.

The whole process should be completed by the end of the week of September 28th, if we can get a little cooperation from the weather.

Greens Aeration is vital to the overall health of the Greens..

We know that it is disruptive and will do all we can to limit any closures and/or inconvenience.

It is time to sign up to compete in the 2026 Club Championships. The Men's division will compete Saturday, August 22 & Sunday, August 23, there will be 3 divisions, scratch, handicap and senior (60 & over) handicap.
