Thanks to all the grappling families who came out to support the BigWater Beach wrestling tourney!

We had a fantastic day. Please share your pics of the wrestling, food, and fun!

Edit: We wanted to add that we had 20+ wrestlers and 30+ kids representing all three clubs in the Chequamegon Bay. All of these athletes will wrestle together in Ashland at the varsity level and we can't wait to see what happens as grappling grows in our Bay area!

Even if you didn't let us know, you are welcome to join! Bring family, friends, and some food to share. We've got brats covered and will buy pizza if we start running out of food.

Remember that the BigWater Beach Wrestling party is this coming weekend! Sunday at 10am until 2pm (8/23/26)

All South shore wrestlers (BigWater, Ashland, Bad River, Range wrestling) and wrestling families are welcome.

Bring some food to share, and please let us know if you're coming so we can make sure there's burgers and brats for everyone.

Details for the BigWater Beach Day.

Maslowski Beach Pavilion
10am to 2pm schedule!
Arrive at 10.
Wrestle at 10.30am.
Food by 12pm
Swimming whenever you feel like it!

Any kids wrestling in the tournament should be there by 10am. All youth ages and all weights. We'll finish brackets and get everyone wrestling by 1030am. Hoping to have all kids wrestle a few matches (takedowns only, first to 5). Should be an hour maybe a bit more of wrestling. Then swimming and eating!

We'll vote on a few "BigWater's best" awards and hand out prizes. Hopefully by 1130 or noon we're all eating and swimming!

BigWater, Bad River, Ashland, and Range wrestlers have shown interest and all are welcome!

All local grapplers and grappling supporters welcome! Bring chips, or a side or something to share.

Please reach out and let us know if you're coming, it will help with brackets and food.

BigWater has reserved the pavilion at Maslowski Beach! August 23 (Sunday) from 10am - 2pm. We plan to run a youth beach wrestling takedown tournament and grill, swim, and have fun when the wrestling is done.

Parents, coaches and supporters: keep in mind this is for fun and community building. We will have awards for fun things like 1) ugliest takedown and 2) athlete having the most fun. We will have a range of athletes from state entrants to absolute beginners. If, as a parent, coach, or spectator, you have a hard time seeing the value in kids loving the sport more than the medal this isn't the tournament for you.

On the other hand, if you want to watch grappling grow as kids learn to love a sport and community, bring a side dish to share and enjoy the tourney!

All wrestlers welcome!

Hey everyone! Part of the BigWater mission is attempting to build support for the community. There are awesome musicians, artists, and businesses all over the bay area. If you ever have an event, passion, or story, let us know so we can highlight you!

Friends of BigWater run the local craft school, Wood Spirit, just a few blocks away from BigWater! If you've ever been interested in woodwork, sewing, natural dye and fibers, basket weaving and lots more, reach out! This space is an absolute gem and the instructors are fantastic.

BigWater BJJ is incredibly proud of Shawn Tutor this evening. He represented the school with a tough spirit and love of the game.

Shawn fought to a decision loss after grinding through all three rounds. Thanks for representing BigWater and our community!

Tomorrow (July 18th) BigWater student Shawn Tutor will be fighting in the Ogitchidaa MMA promotion. Ashland Civic center.

Doors open at 5pm, fights start at 6pm.

Come support Shawn!

The grappling, wrestling, and MMA communities involve huge overlap and supporting your local promotion and athletes goes a long way!

While children are allowed, use your own discretion. These events involve blood, injury, and intensity.

We'll update regarding Shawn's fight as we're able.
