This month's focus will be bench press. We will be performing several bench press variations, in addition to incorporating accessory exercises to work the muscles that we need to strengthen in order to improve our bench press.

Join us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings downstairs in the fitness room at 6:30 pm. If you need to modify the workouts, Chris is happy to provide alternative exercises to accommodate injuries or other limitations.

TRAINING GOALS:
-Continue to improve technique in Olympic lifts
-Become more consistant in all three recieving positions
-Improve balance and core strength

MENTALITY GOALS:
Consider your mental balance. Most people, without even realizing it, have some sort of core philosophy that helps guide their actions. We can either be aligned with this philosphy or sometimes we stray away and find ourselves struggling. This month focus on strengthening your "core" or even just locating it. This sense of balance can give us a clearer perception of the world around us and a less stressfull reception of new information.

Olympic lifts can be more of a mental game than anything. So to strengthen our mentality of each session we are going to recite positive affirmations to ourselves at the beginning of each class. Let’s see how much better we can perform when we start talking to ourselves in an intentionally positive way.

Beginning in June there will be no more Saturday Barbell Club. I want to take a moment to reassess our schedule and make sure that this is what works best for everyone. There is an opportunity to add in a Monday option to replace Saturday. we may also be able to change times on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Possible times would be:
Mondays- 5:30, 6, or 6:30
Tuesdays- 5:30, 6, or 6:30
Thursdays- 6:30

I apologize for this change but Saturdays will no longer work for my schedule. I would love to be able to still meet three times a week but if that's not doable for our group then I will adjust the monthly cost and we will stick to Tuesday/Thursday.

So what’s the deal with lifting shoes?

Besides being a bold fashion statement, lifting shoes play a vital role in providing more ease while lifting and allowing lifters to get into stronger positions to keep you safe while lifting. Ankle mobility is foundational to Olympic lifting. You can have the greatest mobility in every other part of your body but still struggle with the lift if you have poor ankle mobility. Enter, the lifting shoe. By providing heel support the knee can drive further forward without being impeded by the ankle joint.

In place of a traditional shoe we will be providing heel lifts. This insert can go in your shoe to provide a 1/2 inch heel lift...without the bold fashion statement.

Shirts will come in Blue, Purple, Dark Gray, and Military Green
