What a fantastic evening we had at John E. Camp Stadium Monday Night for our Mapleton Youth Track & Field Meet!
More than anything, we hope our athletes had fun, learned something new, made memories, and gained a greater appreciation for the sport of Track & Field. Judging by the smiles, excitement, and enthusiastic reviews of the popsicles, we'd call the evening a success!
We were thrilled to host our largest Youth Track & Field Meet ever and are incredibly proud of the effort shown by all of our young athletes. Whether they were sprinting down the straightaway, soaring through the air in the long jump, clearing the high jump bar, or trying a throwing event for the first time, we saw determination, courage, and sportsmanship all evening long. Thank you to all the parents that attended and supported ALL the young Mounties in their efforts.
While our focus is always on participation, learning, and fun, several athletes had outstanding performances across multiple events:
๐
Olivia Bigham won the 4-6 Girls Long Jump, 100 Meter Dash, and 60 Meter Hurdles while setting a new meet record in the hurdles (10.92).
๐
Ethan Reisinger captured victories in the 4-6 Boys 100 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Run, and Discus.
๐
Cavin Callihan won both the 4-6 Boys Long Jump and High Jump while also placing fourth in Discus.
๐
Brayden Johnson won the 1-3 Boys 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and the 4-6 Boys 400 Meter Run.
๐
Mackenzie Goble claimed victories in the 1-3 Girls High Jump and 60 Meter Hurdles while also earning runner-up honors in the 100 Meter Dash.
๐
Rowdy Roberts won the 1-3 Boys High Jump and Discus while adding runner-up finishes in the 100 Meter Dash and Long Jump.
๐
Greta Sullivan swept the 4-6 Girls distance events, winning both the 400 Meter and 800 Meter Runs.
๐
Michael Alleman won the 4-6 Boys 60 Meter Hurdles and 1600 Meter Run while placing second in the High Jump.
๐
Elliana Gilbert established a new 1-3 Girls Shot Put record with a tremendous throw of 31'3" while also earning runner-up honors in the Long Jump.
๐
Kaden Willard won the 4-6 Boys 200 Meter Dash and finished runner-up in the Long Jump and 100 Meter Dash.
๐
Kori Bohaychyk earned top-three finishes in Long Jump, Discus, and the 100 Meter Dash.
๐
Natalie Knighton scored top finishes in three events, placing in the Long Jump, 60 Meter Hurdles, and 400 Meter Run.
This was also a historic evening as we introduced our new 1st-3rd Grade Division, meaning many athletes established the very first records for their age group. Those marks will now be the standards future Mounties chase for years to come.
Thank you again to our coaches, volunteers, high school and middle school athletes, parents, and families who made this event possible. Most importantly, thank you to our young athletes for allowing us to spend the spring with you. We hope you had as much fun competing as we had teaching and cheering for you.
