Personally, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support during Tuesday's Primary Election. Although I ran unopposed, it was truly humbling knowing there are that many of who you have faith in what I have to offer in moving our county forward. Out of the 1,091 Republican ballots cast on Tuesday, I received 869 votes and for that I am grateful.

Moving toward November's General Election, I want to personally meet, speak with and get to know more of you from all across Boone County. Please reach out to me or stop and see me when I am out campaigning, or anytime you see me. Come November, I want you to know me, and make an informed vote. As I have told many I have spoken with, if you feel what I have to offer is what our county needs to move forward I would proudly accept your vote. If you feel we are currently on the right path, I respectfully accept that as well.

At this time we have established our campaign account, the "Committee to Elect Jeff Petry" and would greatly appreciate any support you could give us in helping to reach out and inform the people of Boone County prior to the November Election. Although as a commissioner I would represent only one district, I want to reach every corner of Boone County. As a Commissioner, the decisions made by the representative of every district has an impact on every individual of our entire county. Regretfully we would like to publically announce that Big Coal River Outpost will no longer be in operation. Due to new possible business opportunities, time restrictions and possible new personal ventures, we simply do not have the time to dedicate to our customers. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and certainly enjoyed meeting all the new faces from all over our state. If anyone is interested in starting a business of the like in our area we would be more than happy to help with guidance or advice if needed.

Big announcement today from the governors office!!!! Not only will this provide additional activities in the area in the form of ATV riding, but also much needed lodging for our river trail system!!!! So excited for the future opportunities!!

Update: At this time, the West Virginia DNR, with coordination of the Governors office has not removed the restrictions on outfitters and guide services for recreational water trail businesses. We will continue to follow along for updates and provide more information as it comes available. This does not prevent anyone from using the waterways for kayaking, fishing or any other water based activity, it simply does not allow rental services such as ourselves from providing service to limit contact and possible contamination. This coming week and weekend is going to be beautiful so get out there any make the best of it, just follow CDC and Health Department guidelines in doing so! Hope all is well and we will see you on the water soon!

We hope everyone is well through this pandemic as we hope it coming to an end soon. With the uncertainty of what’s to come, we want to announce there may be a possibility of Big Coal River Outpost not operating this year. We hope everything clears quickly and we can resume normal operations but the safety of our family and customers is our number one priority. We will always be available for trip questions, suggestions and advice of any kind. We hope to update again soon, until then stay safe and remember we’re all in this together.
